COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the strong dark lagers of Germany, Live Oak Liberator Doppelbock is brewed for the last days of winter. Liberator pours deep brown, almost black with layer upon layer of rich malt flavor. The hops are present to gently support and balance the expressive malt character. While the beer sleeps the winter away in a conditioning tank, our lager yeast continues to work to assure a very clean and dry finish.

Draft - Dark malts and a bit syrupy. Cloudy amber with a thin white head. Dark fruit esters and a bit of booze. Lots of fruit peel and caramelized sugars. Odd and there is a slight astringency, but the oddness makes it uniquely interesting.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark amber with medium beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is caramel, rye, bread. Medium mouth, toasted malt, caramel, rye, sweet, light dry finish, good.

Tap, cloudy orange pour with creamy light tan foam, aroma of fruity pineapple, flavor of good clean pineapple with a nice finish

On tap at Jack’s. Can’t believe I had never rated this one. Brown pour with a white head. The aroma is fairly malty with some strong caramel and biscuit notes as well as a hint of dark fruit. The flavor is similar. The big malt notes stand out, but they are accompanied by a bit of dark fruit, orange and grapes. I also get a bit of alcohol, but the alcohol is fairly well hidden. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 24, 2014
Tap. The look is clear, decent light beige colored head, and brownish red color. The smell is banana, fruit, wheat, rice cakes, and yeasty. The taste is sugary, alcohol, fruit, wheat, and ok.

kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Rich deep amber with a copper hue. Lasting thin tan head that’s pretty dense. Strong malty aroma but not sweet. Strong malty taste but well balanced by the hops. Smooth, strong, full. Good.

Deep brown with an average beige head. Aroma is of malt, light vegetal, and caramel. Taste is of soggy cardboard, caramel, and mash water.

Probably my favorite of their’s so far, though I did not check my previous ratings. Very full bodied with, as stated before, nice malty chewiness. In fact excellent malting on their part.

bleeng (1682) - Seattle still not near Beersel., Washington, USA - APR 7, 2015
Draft. Hazy light yellow. More malt nose than hoppy. Full body with a great malt backbone and grassy hop flavor. Different but well done take on an ipa.
