COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new winter seasonal, Primus (pronounced, "pre moose"), is a dark, rich German-style Weizen beer (beer made with wheat malt) fermented with a very particular strain of brewers yeast that gives this beer its unique spicy and fruity character. The unfiltered beer has the characteristic clove and banana flavors familiar to HefeWeizen drinkers but with a darker and richer roasty malt character that is typical of some German-style Bock beers. Available November - January

On tap in a point glass. Pours a hazy brown color with a thin white head and no lacing. Aroma is mostly banana esters coming from the hefeweizen yeast. Taste is also pretty strong on the banana flavor with some hop bite upfront. Also a little sweet. Average carbonation with a slight lingering pucker.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2017 Growler from trade. Pours mahogany brown with a moderate, foamy beige head. Aroma is wheat, brown sugar, banana, and some fruit. Taste is wheat, banana, brown sugar, bubblegum, caramel, berries, very light pepper, and yeast. Drying, clove finish. Full-medium body. Prickly carbonation; moderate enough to avoid being distracting or unpleasant. Slick, lightly creamy mouthfeel.

Wohoo. Excited to try this at gourmands in austin. Fresh keg. Smells like bananas and cloves. Solid fruity aroma. Dark and cloudy. Bach and hefe colored. Frothy head. Thick body and flavor that reminds me of a double. Sweet.

I'm drinking this great beer in a great bar. I would rather it not be so heavy, but the rich aroma and wheat/alcohol flavor are quite lovely.

Tap at Craft and Growler - I really like their hefe, and this didnt disappoint, either - creamy texture, full in the mouth - quite dry for the strength, with flavors of nutty malt, white pepper, clove, nutmeg - some sweetness arrives late, a bit live brown sugar - finish of tart baked apples - really nice.
