Enjoyed on tap while waiting for wife to visit shitty shops in Gruene, TX. Color of cola, thin whispy off white head. Roasted nut aroma, pecan. Pours dark brown to black with a small head. Smell is smoky roast and yeasty. Toasty, roasty malt with an almost smokiness to it. Didn’t have very good carbonation as it was poured on tap to a pitcher, and then my glass. On tap at FM Smokehouse. Deep mahogany in color with a decent beige head. Aroma is of cardboard, roasted malts, coffee. Taste is roasted malts, cardboard.

Nose is dark malt, dark toffee, biscuit, dark fruits.
Taste follows, sugars, dark malt, toffee.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish execution.

Sample at Hay Merchant. Opaque brown-black pour with a medium light tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and hops. Light-bodied with a roasty character and flavors of bready malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a roasted malt aftertaste. Decent overall. Tap flight at Flying Saucer San Antonio. Brown pour that you can see through. No detectable nose. Flavor is roasty with a sweet syrupy characteristic and bitter finish in the back of the mouth while remaining sweet in the to the in front. Impressive slippery and creamy mouthfeel. Surprise.
