On tap and enjoyed at Steve’s Birthday bash, snifter: Coppery red with a small head and spotty lace. (still could use more carbonation). The nose detects pear, crabapple, cherry pit and even a hint of a rye-like ester. There is also some wood, caramel, bready and slight alcohol notes as well. Very aromatic and phenolic, NICE! The taste starts sweet but not cloy with a grassy bitterness. I found a constant yeast and nutty profile with warming alcohol and wood upon the finish. Sublime Creme Brule and mineral water also dashing in and out.
The mouth feel is smooth and oily, warming but not boozy. OUTSTANDING, the barrel influence is there but accents the beer and does not overpower.
On tap at The Livery.
Pours a dark copper color with a very thin light tan head that disappears almost as quickly as the glass gets set down. Swirling will do nothing to bring it back ground the dead. The nose is odd--it smells like grainy sawdust that has been soaked in a strong alcohol solution. No real dark fruit character until it starts to really warm up when I get a bunch of really sweet grapes. The flavor is really bad--quite grainy and not nearly full enough in body. Pretty gross.

Thanks a million, BBB63!
Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed amber body. There are a few disorganized bubbles on top, but calling it a "head" would be a somewhat dubious claim.
Smell: A fruit platter served upon a wooden plank with a side of caramel.
Taste: Caramel and a melted candy sweetness overlayed with a pleasant fruitiness of peaches, pears, and lychees. An everpresent woodiness and light tannins help lend it a dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: Pretty good. I, myself, did not find the wood character to be overwhelming (or even whelming). jsquire (4677) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - SEP 13, 2008
At the ’08 MBG festival. Deep golden color with a thin, off white head. Nose of caramel sweetness, fruit and some bubblegum. Lots of cereal grains in the flavor with caramel sweetness, yeast, and a dried fruitiness. Nice Quad. unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - APR 3, 2008

22 oz hand bottle shared by tjthresh, courtesy of BBB63 - enjoyed at the csbosox tasting on 3/7/08. Pour is golden, with some ruby highlights - no head whatsoever. Aroma of green apples, very bright and fruity. Some heat behind that. Wood is present, though certainly in the backseat behind the apples. I am assuming this was Brandy barrel? Taste is a fair amount of heat, with sourish apple and almost a Trippel body and finish to it. This was OK, but I thought the barrel was pretty overwhelming. Thanks to both Mike and Tom! shigadeyo (3820) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2009

4/25/2009: Livery Barrel Aged Agent 99 was one of the highlights of the day for me. It is brown in color and has a citrusy aroma. The flavor is sweet, malty, lightly fruity, and has a hint of vanilla. It has a mellow mouthfeel and reminded me of an English-style Barlywine. This is a great beer with a great name. If you aren’t familiar with Agent 99, the you better GET SMART!

Growler from BBB63, thanks Mike. Shared with bikesanbeers, my girlfriend Cyn and his girlfriend Jessi. This is so damn easy to drink its kind of insane. Pours copper with a tan ring. Nose is sweet and oaky, with hints of alcohol, overall a very big nose, There is also apple elements in the nose. Taste is sweet, with some molasses, sugary, big alcohol is hidden, this an interesting brew, it reminds me of a Weizenbock with its apple cidery taste and look. This was very easy to drink and as such got me somewhat trashed. 1FastSTi (3358) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 5, 2008
Thanks Mike via Jason! The beer pours to a glowing vibrant amber body with no head. The aroma is apricots, pears, sweet fruits. Some sort of sweet barrel, but not too much. The flavor is sweet and fruity with a nice oaken apricots and orange laden barley. Very balanced and blended. The palate is sweet, mildly warming, and medium bodied.
