2009/2010 batch (#2) is a Belgian Quadrupel aged in a Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout cask for 20 months by its re-release in 2010. During this time some wild yeast development as also occured. A younger version was limited release in 2009 and at that point had not developed any wild yeast tones. 2008 Batch #1 were aged various lengths (8 to 18 months) in a 5th use bourbon barrel and then dry-hopped with English Fuggles hop. The initial Livery batch 99 was brewed for release in celebration of the 2nd anniversary of the brewery in 2007.

Shared by BBB63 at DLD. Not normally how Id start off a massive beer tasting, but OK! Sweetish bourbon whiskey aroma, sweet florals, oxidized and muddy flavor. Oldish and very strong, but shows some decent complexity. This is the first of many beers where I couldve spent a lot more time with the brew and written a lot more but the general insanity of DLD prevented me from writing top-notch ratings. Hopefully I will have a chance to revisit these beers in the future.

Draft @ The Livery. Pours a murky, grapefruit-brown color; bright off-white head with web-like lacing; attractive, chewy looking pour. Lots of tart grapefruit, brown sugar, and sour cherries and breadiness; excellent grapefruit and toasty oak notes. Medium-to-full, dense chewy mouthfeel: lots of chewy grapefruit, brown sugar, breadiness and toasty wooden character; gorgeous, soft mouthfeel; tart grapefruit note sits beautifully inside the oak and chewy malt core. Excellent stuff. Lengthy finish, showing brown sugar, candy sugar, and toasty oak.

Hand bottle by way of tjthresh and BBB63. Thanks! Sugary, doughy, sweet malt aroma, full of spice and fiery alcohol, also notes of calvados barrel(?). Some baking cinnamon rolls and green apple notes. Clear medium golden amber color, head is spotty and slight. Flavor is packed with turbinado sugar, green apple fruitiness, wood and rather intense alcohol, peppery and medicinal, tangy and hot with plenty of warmth and a touch of spicy bitterness. Smooth and lightly acidic on the palate, body is certainly huge. A bit harsh for my taste.

livery 5th anniv party in benton harbor, mi. pours an orangish brown with small head. aroma and flavor was a bizarre mess of too-much sugar, caramel, maple, and breads..finish begins with raisin and ends with slight citrus and bitter/dry hops

Courtesy BBB63. Pours a clear amber copper color, with a small white head. Smells of a touch of bourbon, light caramel, fruits, and sweet malt. The flavor is more on the mild side, but nicely balanced for a barrel aged brew. The bourbon is soft, with the fruits and malts showing up more in the front and softening out in the finish. Very light to be called a quad in my opinion. Finished kind of tart. Decent, but not eye opening.

Courtesy BBB63. Cloudy light amber color with a thin white soapy head. Moderate bourbon aroma with settled down as it breathed a bit. Dried apricot and oak on aroma also. Taste is a bit hot, theres some notes of Belgian yeast way back there, some spice. Smells better than it tastes.
