Draft sample at the Michigan Brewers Guild Fall Fest. Poured an amber/brown with thin tan head. Aroma of slight bourbon and wood, sweet bready malt, and dark fruits. Sweet and slight tartness from the wild yeast. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation. Interesting and pretty good. JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - MAR 21, 2008
Courtesy BBB63. Cloudy light amber color with a thin white soapy head. Moderate bourbon aroma with settled down as it breathed a bit. Dried apricot and oak on aroma also. Taste is a bit hot, there’s some notes of Belgian yeast way back there, some spice. Smells better than it tastes. jsquire (4537) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - SEP 13, 2008
At the ’08 MBG festival. Deep golden color with a thin, off white head. Nose of caramel sweetness, fruit and some bubblegum. Lots of cereal grains in the flavor with caramel sweetness, yeast, and a dried fruitiness. Nice Quad. puzzl (3260) - New York, New York, USA - APR 27, 2009
Shared by BBB63 at DLD. Not normally how I’d start off a massive beer tasting, but OK! Sweetish bourbon whiskey aroma, sweet florals, oxidized and muddy flavor. Oldish and very strong, but shows some decent complexity. This is the first of many beers where I could’ve spent a lot more time with the brew and written a lot more but the general insanity of DLD prevented me from writing top-notch ratings. Hopefully I will have a chance to revisit these beers in the future.

Draft. Pours a muddy, ruddy amber with little head but good lacing. Aroma is hot with booze, cherry, vanilla and malt. Tastes great, with less alcohol in the finish than I was expecting. A lot of tart fruit, yeast and subtle barrel flavors. Excellent, uncategorizable brew from one of MI’s best. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 22, 2008
Hand-bottle from a growler courtesy of BBB63: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel malt and some mild fruity tartness and oak with some fresh piny English hops and a hint of soapiness. Body starts fairly full with a lot of oaky barrel flavor and semi-sweet earthy caramel malt with a drier piny citrusy finish. A pretty interesting brew that should age well. danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 13, 2009
On tap at the Livery. The aromas and nose are a rich barrel tone with some sweet dark fruit flavors such as dates and raisins. This beer could use some time to mellow out but still a tasty beer. holdenn (2116) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2010
