>> Pours clear amber with low foam, spotty lacing. Nose is tamarind, rice vinegar, fumey alcohol, mushroom, tomato. Taste is salty, acetic, white alcohol, fairly boozy and hard to get through.
Pours orangish amber with no head. Aromas of tartness, plums, and some bourbon. Flavors of plums, caramel, bourbon, and nice amount of tartness. Nice big sour with nice bourbon note. Didn’t even realize it was 13% Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 30, 2013
In short: A sweet amber ale with dirty flavors and some sour fruits. Weird messy beer. Not my thing.crossovert (13413) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2013
How: Bottle 22oz, post-HF FoFA 2013.
The look: Cloudy dark amber body topped by a bubbly off-white ring of foam.
In long: Nose is heavy malts and very much on the dirty side of things with wet socks, musk, ripe fruits, sour dark fruits. In mouth a heavy body with smooth carbonation. Taste doesn’t improve much on the aroma. Heavy earthy cereals, plums, dirty dishwashing cloth, carael, sour dark fruits, candies. Very sweet, moderately sour. Didn’t work for me, I drained pour my glass. Last beer I had at this great FoFA 2013 party, woke up in the morning after feeling like a million bucks... in debt... to some Vermont goat farm owner... I won’t say anymore.
REally solid beer, plums, light tartness, very nice malt flavors, a very sturdy wheat wine.

Bottle: The aroma consists of caramel, fruit/plum, a touch of lemon, and vanilla. It pours a transparent orangish-amber with a small white ring for a head. The flavor starts with with a quick dose of caramel and plums. The finish has some light-moderate lemon/lemon peel, light raisin, and oak. It’s medium bodied with minimal carbonation. brokensail (16601) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Cloudy orange pour with no head or visible carbonation. Lots of tart fruit aroma, particularly plums. Some citrus notes, a bit of stone fruit, and mild malt sweetness. A bit of vanilla, wood, and kumquat. Very strong plum, apricot, tangerine, and kumquat fruit flavors. Some toffee maltiness, a bit of wood, vanilla, and a nice lactic tartness. jbeatty (1255) - New York, USA - NOV 27, 2012
Bottle, 11/27/2012. Pours ruby brown, slight haze, no head aside from a few transitory bubbles despite a vigorous pour. Aroma has plums, dark berries, vinous, tart lactic funk, followed by light layer of toffee, woody finish. Taste is sweetly tart, candied fruits, plum especially, lightly oxidized sherry, a bit of moldy funk, caramel overtones with barrel notes on the breath. Medium heavy palate, lack of carbonation lets the flavors come out, alcohol not apparent. All in all kind of like a nicely aged old beer actually, interesting in its own way. b3shine (9019) - Indiana, USA - AUG 18, 2012
Draft to taster at The Livery. Looks decent; a cloudy brown with razor-thin white lacing. Smells and tastes infected with a below-average mouthfeel. I hope this is infected...or that’s even worse. sarro (134) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 27, 2011
64oz growler shared at a great A2 tasting--thanks James! Umae Umami pours a dark amber with nearly no head and very light carbonation. We actually had this growler filled at the HopCat and noticed it was under carbonated having samples of it on tap at the time. Smell is prickly fruit, oak, light red wine, a bit of funk and sour acetone. The taste is sour prunes, sour grapeskin, and oaky tannins along with some celery & veggie-like dryness on the finish. Tart, dark fruit dominates the mid-palate. It’s highly drinkable with a medium-full body and I easily drank my fair share of around 16+ oz.
