Pours a dark brown with thin tan head, lots of lacing. Aroma obvious of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, and a bit of caramel. Flavor matches well, very creamy, but has a slight sourness that I wasn’t expecting.... anyway, pretty decent, slightly thin body, but good nonetheless.

Sampler at the brewpub. Lots of strong black patent like aromas but not the bitterness - fumy, debittered ash. Flavor is just a much more watery version. The Dixie O'Flynn pours dark brown to black with a thin dark tan head that doesn't last long and is difficult to agitate. The aroma is chocolate and coffee. The flavor is chocolate, coffee and a hint of vanilla. The beer is quite dry. Overall this is a nice beer.

On tap at the Berkley Front. Pours near black with thick dark mocha head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, and some caramel. Flavors of nice roasted malts, some dark chocolate, light caramel, and a bit of coffee. Finishes dry and roasty. Pretty solid.

Draft after RBSG 10. Pours a cream black with ruby at the edges and a deep tan head. Nose is mild roast and cocoa with a faint earthy hop note. Roast is subdued. On nitro-tap at the Livery.
Pours a deep black but has only the tiniest of a mocha head. Odd for a nitro pour, especially as it wouldn’t hold anything after a few swirls. Oh well. From there, much better. The nose carries a strong roast with a touch of coffee. The flavor brings lots of roast with a nice amount of coffee as well. Good balance between the two. Light body and moderate carbonation. Really well done; a very nice example of the style.

On tap at Martini’s in Kzoo. A Birthday Tasting. Took much too long to pour (novice barwench?). When it did arrive, it looked lucious with lovely camel/chocolate color. On nitro at the brewery. Opaque deep brown body, medium creamy brown head. Light roasty nose with some char. Dry, chocolaty body, with cocoa powder, char/burnt wood, and leathery, salty notes, picking up some caramel and dark fruit with warmth, quite rich for the style. The lack of woody, acidic astringency is always a plus.
