Sample Brewery 2/27/10-Pours a hazy amber with a small head. Aroma of malt. Taste of malt, caramel, and citrus. This medium bodied brew was different but still tasty. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - MAY 14, 2011
On tap at The Livery.
Pours a very dark amber color with a thin off white head that recedes quickly without leaving much of anything behind. The nose brings a pretty large amount of sweet malt and a touch of light roast. Some continental hops in the background. The flavor is too sweet and offers malt with a moderate hop balance. Too thick and almost chewy. The malt and hop balance is a bit out of whack. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Too thick a beer and not enough flavor. Not very impressed.

Doughy, lightly roast nose with some raisin and light herbs. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter taste with a touch of dark fruit, roast and herbs. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 26, 2009
Pours a very dark rusty brown with decent bright white head that dies to a film, clings and laces decent. Aromas are lightly sweet malt, a bit darker overall, faint hoppy presence. Initial mirrors this with a bit of honey sweetness, a bit watery, darker sugars, fainy fruity and light bitterness on the backend. This is a mellow darker beer, light yet flavorful$ a bit lacking in body. Ok. SrSilliGose (3332) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - MAY 9, 2009

FoBAB 2008 - pours amber with off white head. nose is musty, mold. flavors of cleaners, asphalt, chemistry 101? User29624 (1687) - - NOV 27, 2008
FoBAB 08. Didn’t really seem like a Dunkel when I had it, barrel aging might have changed some things a bit. Pours a dark brown with a thin head. Some sweet malt. Barrel aging added some funky aroma and flavor, which is solid. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Fobab VI. Pour is nice looking dark brown, thin head. I don’t really get aggressive hops, but this is the barrel aged version. Nice and tart with some funk. Big caramel malt body with vanilla in the nose. Pretty decent beer, but a Dunkel? Naw. Good. jeffwilliams11 (310) - hooterville, Michigan, USA - NOV 1, 2008
on tap at hopcat. pours dark brown with small head. flavor is very smooth, lightly tart.. very drinkable and yet another great beer from the livery. RAYBOY01 (2010) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 10, 2008
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2008 Very dark pour, amber in color, with a moderate caramel and citrus nose. The sweet bread maltiness is balanced by the continental floral/herbal hop bitterness. Pretty drinkable and refreshing on this hot summer day.
