3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Handpull at the Liv. Black with a foamy tan head. Aroma bursting with toasted walnuts, licorice and coffee. Taste is roasted malt punctuated by citrusy hops. Long, lingering bitterness in the finish. Medium body with carb befitting of the sparkler. Tasty stout, this.
Excellent stout. Poured from growler. Good head and lovely dark color. Heavier than the average stout. Nice aroma with sweeter coffee notes. Good bitterness. Slightly acidic aftertaste would be my only complaint. I think one of the reviewers must have gotten a bad batch. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Sampler pour on tap at the brewpub (Benton Harbor, MI). Pours an ominous dark opaque pour, blackish with deep hues, no real light on the edges. Not thick, but dark. A frothy brownish head atop dies to a nice film, laces ok. Aromas are cocoa, oatmeal, and dry roast. Soda bread, grass, firmer dry earthy roast, hops overall. Not sweet. Initial is medium bodied preaching a richer dry roastiness up front, toast and gentle dryness grow, florals. Middle ups the "Coffee" ante, firm dry roast, earthy ask, touches of black malt, coffee, and kiss of dark cocoa elements. Backend is roasty, earthy, rich dryness, coffee, soil, some ash, toasty biscuits linger. Ashy, bits of cocoa. Not sweet, quite a dry finish. Enjoyable for me, but perhaps a bit hard to approach for others. Solid stout with a big slant towards dryness. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has a good amount of citruses and a rich chocolate with a nice sweetness. Solid roast backing with a bit of a coffee note, smooth oats, slightly resiny pines, and cream. Flavor is resiny citrus pines and sweeter chocolate up front with some smooth oats, a light cream, and a solid roast. Finishes smooth, rich, and dry with a nice balance between the citrus hops, roasts, and sweet chocolates. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a creamy, light carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid oatmeal stout with a nice hopping. Chocolate, roasts, and citruses with a smooth body. Well balanced and enjoyable. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - SEP 24, 2012
Nice chocolate character with a bit of roast an light coffee. Smooth body and a nice chewiness. Chocolate throughout is nice. Steasy66 (1155) - Minnesota, USA - AUG 26, 2012
Growler from Nova in Hudson.
My God this beer is heinous. Black color, nice looking dark head. Not much aroma. Flavor is absurdly acidic. Like the acidic taste you get in some porters but concentrated. Disgusting.

Enjoyed at GTMW 2012. Pours a coffee black with a thin brown head. Smells of coffee and chocolate. Bitter coffee flavor with some cocoa. A very light stout with a mild coffee aftertaste. b3shine (8875) - Indiana, USA - AUG 15, 2012
Draft to taster at The Livery. This batch is 7.0%. Looks good; pitch black with low carbonation and thin white lacing. Smells solid; MALTY! Tastes like it smells, but slightly bitter/metallic. Mouthfeel is average. Decent beer. mikem409 (2027) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - JUL 19, 2012

On tap at Romans pub in Milwaukee. A decent oatmeal stout. Lacking a bit on flavor and a bit too fizzy for my taste. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 20, 2012
A pretty average oatmeal stout. IT is a bit heavier than most, some roastiness and cocoa.
