My uncle was a manager at Local Color when they first opened. He brought home at least 20 cases of the test bottling. 20 cases of decent micro-brew beer for free! You gotta be a fan after that. Supposedly Local Color has the most state of the art, computer based brewing system in the world. Acutally their wheat beer is one of the best I’ve ever had! No kidding. I hope they bottle it someday. Peace!
Bottle: Weak aroma is lightly sweet with a mild hop balance. Pours a light transparent yellow with virtually no head. Euro-lager flavor from start to finish with a little more sweetness coming in the start and a light hoppiness in the finish. Aftertaste is a short-lived sweetness. Your average pilsner, and just another example of how this style just does not work for me. Dogfish120 (143) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAR 8, 2005
A very average pilsner, had on tap before the brewery closed.....not bad, but not much more i can say SuIIy (1983) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - FEB 28, 2005

Cloudy golden colour off white head... dry grassy aroma.. Something sweet is hanging in there like candy... cheap chocolate.. Dry bitter somewhat asringent... thehoff (598) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2004
This was the Novi Pilsner. Quite cloudy, thick white head. Smells quite a lot like a piece of wood, or straw. not too bad. A little bit more flavor than a pilsener usually has. Slight bitterness. OK. Kind of creamy.

Light golden and very hazy, Yellowish head is frithy ans thick. Nose is grassy. Thicker pils body, grainy at first sip, but grassiness is good and smoother as I get through the bottle. Here is a decent pils! Schroppfy (2360) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2002
Loads of malt and a good bit of hops make this a very good pilsner. I have always shied away from Local Color for no really good reason, but the nose on this is pure authenticity...drippingly malty like it like it. Doesn’t close all that crisply...but still! jazz88 (2677) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 19, 2002
Bottle. A nice white foamy head, always a good start to a pilsner. Closer to its style demand than the other Local Color beers I have had. Cold, crisp and refreshing, but completely average. Aggie80 (818) - Michigan, USA - JUL 9, 2002
Okay. A light yellow color, clear with a small head. Typical hoppy/skunk aftertaste. Better than a megabrewer but not top of the line. BrockLandersLS (109) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 9, 2002
An average midmarket pilsner. Nothing great but it’ll do.
