A distinct red lager that demands you take notice. Surprising character. Smooth taste. Best looking beer on the market.

I love this beer, great flavor and a smooth taste, very unknown though......

One of the BEST beers I have had in a LONG TIME! Smooth/Refreshing and a great finish!

redmosquito (172) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - SEP 24, 2005
Dark red in color with a good off white head, served in a 22oz mug at a local eatery. nice malt aroma, a blend of roast and caramel, and a very slight hop aroma. Flavor is clean, not overly sweet toasty malt flavor with mild bitterness and a crisp finish. Mouthfeel is somewhat light but nicely refreshing and not dry at all. Overall this is a good beer, well made and ideal to accompany a big greasy burger.

Had this on tap in Novi befor the brewery closed, wasn’t overly impressed, decent lager, not to malty, overly watered with little carbination, almost seemed as though they had production deadlines to meet.

not bad, i got this for free because a friend of a friend new someone who worked for local color and brought a bunch of free beer on a weekend trip. so I cant complain

a boring watered down beer; little flavor...little aroma
im not wasting my time explaining this useless beverage

Silphium (3198) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - DEC 23, 2004
Sampled this fully fermented but unclarified at Schmohz Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids where it is being brewed during Local Color’s move. Hazy, murky orange-red body. Aroma of apple, toast, and caramel. Caramely, toasty flavor, quite light-bodied and thin. Come to think of it this was very thin and watery. Smooth, yes, but water is oh-so-smooth.

mstockton (238) - Frankfurt, GERMANY - OCT 6, 2004
Pretty drinkable. Reminds me of Killian’s, but I think it’s certainlya bit better. I suppose that it "looks" like it should have a heavier taste, but it is rather light. Crisp and clean, but certainly nothing exotic. Nice to see a microbrew make a beer that could appeal to a lot of folks, not just beer snobs.

darkerdabetter (255) - Michigan, USA - MAY 31, 2004
Truly a disappointing drink. It did look good, ok aroma and good pour, but went downhill from there. Just a forgettable example of a red, bit sweet and nothing else.

mc5 (11) - USA - MAR 28, 2004
Nice color, cherry/apricot aroma but much too sweet and very little discerbnable hops. Just ok.

ruppert2p (10) - Bowling Green, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2004
Golden orange color. Tight white head. Mimimal hops in the nose. Very sharp falvor; like the aroma, minimal hops and little malt. Reminiscent of a typical American lager. Stylistically it is attempting to appeal to Killian's drinkers, but misses the mark in my book.
