12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a clear brown color with a beige head of foam. The head dissipates quickly. The aroma has raisins, wood, vanilla, coconut, some caramel. The taste is pretty sweet and boozy, and quite delicious. Thick body and mouthfeel. Really lingers on the palate. Went great with the cigar.

(12oz bottle) cloudy deep orange, fine white bubbles. Nose of bourbon, cream, American hops, caramel, brown sugar. Taste of toasty marshmallows, caramel, lightly astringent alcohol, touch of American hops, nice medium body, great linger

Caramelized boozy malts. Reminds me of an American barleywine; hops show themselves at the end. Boozy finish/bite. Solid, not great.

Big Barleywine given to me by Tony at Local Option. Hazy amber colour. Little head nose is big caramel, booze and bourbon. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavour is big caramel malt with some nice sweetness and bourbon. Well done beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. The pour is a murky copper color. The aroma is strong, big bourbon and a mix between barley wine and an old ale. The taste is fairly complex, and kind of messy. Reminds me of a very light weight light 4D from a taste perspective. Not at all light in the booze arena, very boozy. Chalky taste. Hoping is gets a better taste as it warms.

12oz bottle share courtesy of dcschiller. It pours with a deep murky copper body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up molasses, caramel malts, cherries, prunes and a pleasing sherry rich fruitiness followed by some modest booze near the end of the draw. The taste is rich and yummy and it goes deep with goodness in the form of molasses and caramel malts rolling into prunes, cherries and brown sugar. Im not sure I get any barrel in this but that doesnt interfere with the experience one bit. This is a lovely sipper as it ends with a nectar sweet kiss amid a bit of booze. Yes!

Bottle @ Richards Tasting. Copper pour with a khaki head. This thing is hot. Really boozy. Peach, white sugar, brown sugar, and some booze. Bread, caramel, toffee, and a touch of bourbon. As with the nose, this thing is just boozy and cloying. Toffee, caramel, and tons of sugar. A bit of fruit, mostly golden raisin and peach. Mild bourbon, lots of alcohol, and some vanilla.

12oz bottle, thanks to caterwaul. Split with b3shine. Totally hazy amber brown color. Pours with pretty much no head, just a couple bubbles. Very light carbonation, almost flat. Bigger body. Lightly slick, very light dry in the finish. Big earthy hop, oak whiskey, some caramel, light vanilla, light spice. Some sweet, bigger bitter taste. Sort of a spicy bite in the finish. Toffee. Interesting, big intense barleywine. Smooths out considerably as it warms. Gets much more creamy, and the bite subsides. Funny how these big beers get noticeably better as they warm up. After a while a thin white film of head becomes visible on the surface, and some good dots of lace show up on the glass. Wow, it just got better and better. Started at a 3.2, finished off at a 3.7. Did I get buzzed that quick? Much hoppier and bitter than your typical barleywine, but in a bittering way, early addition hop, not aroma. For this reason I think it will age pretty well - probably wont turn into a sweet mess a year or two down.

Bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy caramel brown with very thin off-white lacing and very soft carbonation. Smells solid; sweet and malty with notes of caramel and toffee and a big oak presence. Not a lot of bourbon though. Maybe a bit of vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Bourbon comes out more in the nose as it warms. Good, not great.
