Cask at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear deep amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, dark berries, some biscuit, subtle pine and spicy hops. Taste of caramel, biscuit, some raisin, slight pine, subtle chocolate, maybe pepper and late spicy, slightly herbal hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Quite a weird one this, starts malty and slight fruity but ends quite dry with a big, spicy finish. Ok but wasn’t expecting this. Tasted this at the Fairlie [email protected]
Village Inn in August 2013. Cask, gravity dispense. Opaque russet in colour with no head. Dusty floral hop note in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and no lacing. Mixed malts give a biscuit base with tart pink grapefruit noted in the mouth. Slight cabbage note present in the aftertaste with floral hops imparting a resiny dryness. Finish is on the hoppy side with dry resins evident. A poor example of an Amber Ale and nothing of note here to be honest.
