COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Picked this up at the grocery store in New Glarus down the street from the brewery. Hidden underneath some other Swiss wines and dusty and forgotten about. Cool label artwork with a swing top. Tastes like it has gone through some extreme temperature changes and poor storage. Old, and dry and very light, almost slightly vinous, with some oxidized sherry notes. Not the best thing I drank that night, but makes for a neat story, having never tried swiss beer before, only their wine.

Bottle, 5.2%. Good malty aroma, slightly farty, though. Dark brown colour, some small bits floating around. The flavour starts off nicely malty with a good mouthfeel. Gets a bit drier after a while, but still tastes OK. I would have liked it a bit sweeter.

Sampled in Zurich. A pretty nice brew, goes down really smooth and crisp. In a bottle, pours a nice bit of head. Decent spicing.

Bottle, bought @ Lgismose, Cph.
Pours deep golden. Lots of tiny floaties. Fine, small, creamy, white head. Sweet grainy aroma with a hint of fat caramel, hay and grass. Highish carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, good toffee-ish caramel, a touch of mnchner malts and a slight grassy hops finish - not much, though.

Bottled (BB 11/2009). A bit hazy yellow color, small white head. Ryeish, cheap grassy hoppy nose. Sweet malty, tiny traces of diacetyl, cheap cardboardish hops. Booring ...

Bottled. Poured clear, bright medium orange with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up honey, sweet caramel, and faint light fruits with plenty of oak and a little vanilla present.. some mild vegetal character on the back. The flavor found sweet caramel and pale malts at the core with a quick transition to spicy oak and earthy bitterness at the edges.. finished tacky with the same sweetness and oak. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate with interesting character from the barrel. Not a great beer, but it was drinkable.

Tranquillity (1937) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2009
Bottled. Dark-orange, thick white head. The aroma is fruity and malty, caramel and even marshmallow. Good stuff! Nothing special in the taste, but its extremely well balanced and all individual parts are good. Theres malt with good hops towards the end, with a sweeter finish.

Rciesla (5500) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAY 18, 2009
Bottle. Pours a copper orange body with a thin white lacing that quickly dissipates to nothing. Cider aroma, apple and light oak. Chewy malt, and grain husk, light oak and some sweet esters. Light moth character, eh not so good.
