Bottled. Poured clear, bright medium orange with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up honey, sweet caramel, and faint light fruits with plenty of oak and a little vanilla present.. some mild vegetal character on the back. The flavor found sweet caramel and pale malts at the core with a quick transition to spicy oak and earthy bitterness at the edges.. finished tacky with the same sweetness and oak. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate with interesting character from the barrel. Not a great beer, but it was drinkable. Tranquillity (2564) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2009
Bottled. Dark-orange, thick white head. The aroma is fruity and malty, caramel and even marshmallow. Good stuff! Nothing special in the taste, but it’s extremely well balanced and all individual parts are good. There’s malt with good hops towards the end, with a sweeter finish. Hazy amber wth a medium off white head. Sweet and somewhat fruity aroma with toasted malt and caramel notes. Grassy hops in the flavour backed up by malty and caramel notes. Finished bitter this one. BeerBlockaid (683) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - NOV 30, 2008
Enjoyed in a Suppen bar in Basel; second floor style. Yeast, golden pour. Nose hints of caramel and some floral aspects, and a few tossed herbs. Some marzipan, and a yeast like flavour pilfers about. An enjoyable Vienna, and I didn’t even know that was what I was drinking. The after taste carried a few surprises with banana nut bread and berries. yum.
