Bottle. (Brief tasting notes and rating from old records) - BCA - Refreshing, crisp, tangy, bitter grapefruit citrus hoppy & malty ale. Bitter citrus-hoppy finish. (Backlog) BlackHaddock (7696) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle (bottle conditioned), best before 20th Nov 2008, drank July 2008.
Very lively, only got half the bottle into my pint tumbler because of the head that appeared as I tried to pour.
Pale amber/yellow with a white (large) head, clear and well carbonated, bubbles rising to replenish the head.
Citrus aroma, mixed with hops and malts.
It claims to have a continental style (whatever that means?) and it doesn’t taste like a normal English Bitter at all. The citrus flavours within the smell are very apparant in the taste, it is almost tangy, zesty even. It tasted a little green, as in not ready, but it only had 4 months life left and it had sat in my garage for over six months.
The label also told me to serve it slightly chilled on a sunny day, so I did.
A little watery for 4.8%, but not wishy-washy. The spritzy citrus flavours linger in the mouth for a while.
Not really ’My Cup of Tea’, but an interesting brew none-the-less. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2009
500ml Bottle at home 10/09/2007

Aroma of hops .Was yellow, cloudy and very lively. Tasted hoppy was very fizzy. AndrewC (379) - Canterbury, Kent, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2008
Bottle condition. Not great to be honest. Cloying and sickly. Shame as I was looking forward to it.

Bottle.Clear gold with a large head, aroma of peach and hops, taste is prickly with summer fruit, dry. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2007
Bottled. A light gold coloured beer with a rocky lasting white head. Nice lemony and orangey hops on the aroma, together with a hint of soap. Some more hops in the taste, but more restrained. After pouring and checking the head, I feared for an infected BCA but it’s actually pretty pleasant. imdownthepub (15336) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 28, 2007
Bottle conditioned, 500ml, from Tesco, Banbury. Gold to brown with short lasting Head. A little bit non descript. Dry and bitter wit a flowery aroma, some hop but needs to be searched out and a little malty fruitiness, but largely disappointing with a lack of freshness. dj (626) - Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2007
Bottle, 500ml. A pale golden colour with a huge frothy head. A floral hop and orange aroma. Taste is caramel, roasted malt, floral hops and really juicy citrus fruits. High carbonation. Very tasty, but rather too fizzy for my liking. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2007
A Mes rate:
Bottle from Tesco, obviously. Dark gold with a huge froth head that settled to nothing in seconds. Harsh soapy yeasty aroma with some rather unpleasant hops. Having to pluck up the courage to taste it. Actually not quite as bad as the nose. Tastes like a standard lager but with a harsh citric finish leaving some all too lengthy cardboard. Bit of a shocker all round. Actually no. The more I drink the worse it gets. Very very bad. Drain pour. Now let’s find something to cleanse my palate...
