COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shiphead is brewed with organic Peruvian ginger straight out of the rain forest. Coriander and fresh lemon peel channel inspiration from the Belgian Wit style. A liberal dose of malted wheat and a mitt full of Vienna malt give this brew notes of bread and grain that compliment the citrus flavors well.

Pour is a kind of clear golden with a average white head. Aroma is a nice ginger with some wheat malt. Flavor is an eye opening ginger with a neutral grain backbone. I was surprised at how much ginger I got off of this. Not a sexy pick at the bar but it has a nice ginger flavor. Perfect for a after work happy hour beer, nice flavor and low alcohol.

Shaker pint draft at Shakespeare’s Pizza in Columbia, Missouri. The pour is a slight hazed yellow golden with not much of a white head. The aroma is lime, ginger and grain wheat. The taste is big ginger right away, along with lemongrass, general spice and finishes with the wheat grain. Some additional citrus in the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied with fine active carbonation and a dry clean ginger citrus finish.

12 oz. can from Craft Beer Cellar - Clayton. Pours a just barely cloudy bright gold with a small white head that settles into a ring and patchy film while leaving a few ropes and spots of lace in the glass. Good ginger throughout, with coriander, soap, wheat, mint, lemon, sweet bread, hay, and faint pepper. Light-bodied, with a fresh, herbal, botanical mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Nice sipper.

From a can after Thomas’ wedding. This was nicely balanced with ginger and wit notes. The ginger was pleasant if a bit sweet. There was also some nice lemon and coriander. Not a great beer but an enjoyable one.

The beer pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma has candied ginger, sharp wheat and a nice roundness. It has a medium body that’s richer than expected and has only a light amount of carbonation. The taste is a mushy version of the aroma with a cobweb sort of thing going on. The finish has a bit more ginger popping. Decent.

Pours a clear pale yellow with a fizzy white head with decent lacing. Aroma of ginger spiciness, citrus and light malt. Taste is heavy on ginger and spice with a good deal of lemon citrus also. Light malt sweetness and tangy wheat character. Light/medium body with medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

While I can appreciate that this is well crafted, I’m not a big fan of the ginger flavor, or beers that are heavily spiced, so I couldn’t finish this.

Sampler at the brewery. It poured a hazy blond color with a small white head. The aroma was citrusy and floral with a touch of crisp wheat. The taste was a touch sour with a nice finish, with more malt and light hops. Nice.

Sample at Boulevardia 2015. Comes a clear pale gold with an average white head. Aroma of malt, citrus, and spice. Taste is lemon, ginger, malt, and grain. A bit too much spice.

Clear copper/orange pour, with a small white head. Aroma has citrusy hops and a bit of wheat in the back ground. Flavor is a crisp and clean, some floral and citrus notes. A little bready on the tail end that leads to a nice tingly bitter finish. Very drinkable, and enough hops to satisfy my cravings.
