750mL bottle, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of strong farmhouse notes, hay, and some Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out loads of farmhouse notes, a little banana, Belgian yeast, and a little hay. Also a bit of sweetness. Wonderful depth and high drinkability. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours clear yellow gold with white head. Nose and taste of dried apple, yeast, old citrus, earth, jicama, white sugar and touch of hay. Medium body.

On tap @ Provisions. Golden orange pour with a white head. Sweet apple, apricot, and sugar on the nose. Notes of alcohol, yeast, banana, and orange. Sweet, sugary flavor, too. Apricot, apple, and banana fruit notes. Pear, some orange, yeast, and a subtle spice. Light alcohol tartness. Not bad.

Bottle - Sweet and very fruity with some grass notes. Clear gold with a frothy white head. Sweet, stone fruit, light pepper notes and a small amount of bitterness in the finish to balance the sweetness. Very nice.

Capped 750 from Bine & Vine. Pours somewhat dishwater gold with a creamy white head. Light aroma of citrus and yeast/spice. Med body. Flavor is very earthy with unusual fruit ester. Runs from earthy to fruity tart to less than dry finish. Very unusual. And good.

On draught at Brouwer’s Cafe during Logsdon Brewer’s Night on 09/10/2013: This beer pours a cloudy golden color with a medium thin white head that dissipates slowly to a film. Sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, citrus and spice. Medium-bodied with flavors of earthy yeast, grapefruit and spices. The finish is tart and fruity with a citrus and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle with MJ. Thanks! Pours a bit hazy golden yellow appearance with a white head. Somewhat grassy, woody/papery, lemon zesty, light honey aroma. Somewhat musty, citrus fruity, toasted malty, banana/honey flavor. A bit strong. Ok.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours cloudy yellow with a foamy attractive white head and a floral aroma. There is a funky bitter earthy, yet fruity light malt flavor with a sour finish. A strange combination of tastes, but it works pretty well. It’s all explained in the beer’s name.

My Bottom Line:
This authentic Belgian-style Strong Golden Ale showcases haystacks, bread dough and herbal hops in a bitter and prickly setting.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy yellow shine.
-The mouthfeel is particularly authentic.
-This smells like there was a significant layer of oxygen on top of the beer in the fermenter.
-A Belgian brewery would be proud to have this in their lineup.

Bottle.
