COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our organic farmhouse ale is brewed in small batches on a traditional farm brewery as it has historically been made for hundreds of years. This unfiltered bottle of seizoen, with its beeswax seal, is naturally refermented and carbonated with select yeast strains, producing complex fruity and spicy flavors balanced with hops and a soft malt character.

Quite the gusher, definitely lost an ounce a two before I could start to pour over the sink. A careful pour produces a three finger thick, plus an additional finger above the rim of my Teku glass, pale tan colored head that is quite rocky and textured. The beer is a pale, just amber color that shows a deeply hazed, slightly chunky, straw / pale-orange tinged gold hue when held up to the light. The nose is quite vibrant, floral, lightly herbal, citrusy, earthy grain, wildflower spice notes, and weedy / grass notes all mix together. As the beer warms up a hay like, just thrushed wheat, and pale malt character becomes a bit more noticeable; even a touch of saltine crackers and perhaps some rustic white bread notes.

Dry, but quite grain driven, floral, herbal, with a lingering bitterness, there is a touch of citrus here, that gets more expressive with subsequent sips. The beer is quite light bodied, but is not in any way watery, as there is just enough viscosity to provide some texture. Spicy, peppery, wild flower like, earthy, hints of cumin, slightly musty, lingering sage, and bitter citrus zest are all quite noticeable here. Between the hop character and the yeast notes, there is quite a bit of fruit character in this beer, but it is quite well balanced out by lots of grassy, herbal, weedy, and peppery spiciness in the finish.

My second pour of this is so much murkier and middy in appearance; the flavor isnt too much different, but it definitely is a bit yeasty and the citrusy hop character seems to be muted a bit. This is definitely preferable prior to getting so murky, though it isnt bad after this, but certainly has a yeast bite to it. If I could get a bottle that wasnt so heavily sedimented and was clear, I bet this beer would be just about singing; Ill definitely have to keep a look out for another bottle of this. In the end, I really like how complex this beer is, with the murkiness it can be a touch discordant, but in the end it does work.

This brew is a cloudy orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of stone fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of peppery yeast, fruit, bready malt and a bit of hops. The finish is dry with a fruity yeast and grassy hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Aroma is mostly yeast. Flavors and palate work together synergistically in a relatively traditional way. Plenty of yeast, little fruit or funk, great carbonation. Nice finish.

750mL bottle. Honey-gold pour, lively carbonation, rocky froth of a head with decent retention. Nose is fruit, grass, mild funk. Mouth is sharp from the carbonation, relatively sweet for the style (i.e. sweeter than Id like in a saison), apple, pear, grass, honey, lemon peel, faint yeasty spice. Overall tasty but not exactly a classic interpretation of the style in my opinion. Im curious what the Brett version is like.

@Riga Craft Beer Fest, 8/16. I didnt know Logsdon beers before, and having three of them this evening was a revelation to me! Aromas of vineyard peach, young brett, young brie with quite a sweetness in taste that never gets overdone or cloying, very fruity, with a slight and fitting bitterness, a dry finish and an aftertaste of wood, apples and cider.
