Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with relatively little head on it. Nose is malt forward with some caramel and toast coming through, but has a subtle grassy hop presence. Taste is well-balanced, being neither bitter nor sweet. Lots of toasting coming through. Not bad at all. gramity (1668) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 24, 2013
Small ivory head that was mostly lasting, virtually no lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a red hue. Nose was malty, caramel, hoppy, and nutty. Flavor was sweet, malty, nutty, and hoppy. Mouthfeel was smooth. Medium body. Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - AUG 12, 2013
August 2012 from bottle. Dark amber color with an offwhite head. Malt, spice, caramel and sweet aromas. Sweet on the palate, but good Summer beer. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUN 18, 2013
Solid, flavorful red ale. Malt aroma, which carries through strongly to the flavor. Some spiciness, but this is a distinctly malt-forward beer. But no hoppiness -- which surprises me considering it's labeled as a northwest red ale. Very smooth, very drinkable, and recommended. B+.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, toasted malt and earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of toasted malt, carmel and earthiness with a crisp dry lingering earthy finish.

Sample from firkin at the 6th Annual Rogue Firkin Fest at Green Dragon. Copper-colored with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, citrus and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall. While this red isn’t the world’s best its not a bad one either. It pours a kind of muddy river red, tastes slightly on the bitter side. Really pleasing hop odors when you open it. maekchu (3911) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 9, 2013
Draught at The New Old Lompoc 5th Quadrant. From notes. A bit like an amber ale but with less body and a bit more hopping. Some malt flavor. Good balance.

Serving: from tap at The Beer Junction.
Aroma: lightly piney hoppy.
Appearance: average-sized, creamy, off-white, initial head with excellent lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, flat, amber/orange body.
Taste: moderately bitter initial flavor and lightly acidic finish with chocolate overtones and average duration.
Palate: medium bodied with oily texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: a great beer. I would like to drink this again. cfrancis (3445) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2012
Pours a darks reddish brown with a small off white ring. Aroma is caramel malts with an earthy hop prescence. Taste is a nice earthy hop bitterness with toffee and caramel malt backing. Nice beer.
