Cask at Holborn whippet. Pours midnight black with just a hint of tan head. Aroma of roast malt, hint of coffee. Taste of roast malt, touch of blackjack sweets and licorice root. Nice, strong carbonation brings it to your tongue. Still, somewhat lacking in both the taste and aroma. Wishing for a hint of, I don’t know, sweetness? Might be due to high abv (for cask) it seems a bit OTT.
Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Aprill 2014, joogipood Broadway Marketil (£ 2,99), 50 cl. Korralikult paberisse mähitud pudel, pole varem sellist saanud. Silt pruulikoja standard, kuid lumehelvestega - jook on hooajaline. Valades must muidugi (tuba veits pime ka), vaht on hea, Cocat meenutav hele kakaopruun, jätab klaasiseinale saarte ahelikke. Aroom on hapukas, sutsu käärinud mustsõstrane ja lagritsane, nõrgalt suitsusingine. Soojenedes tuleb esile rohkem magusat, täidlast, ent tuhmi-tahmast šokolaadisust. Maitselt linnasene, tugevalt mõrkjas (humala mõrksus tuleb eriti hästi esile neelatamise järgselt), halba külma kanget pätikohvi meenutavalt hapukas (seda aga heas mõttes), kergelt lagritsane ja kakaone. Kehalt keskmik või üle, suus mõnusalt pehme, neelatades teravam; mullisus piisavalt vähene, ei häiri, pigem toetab kenasti humalat. Suuõõs jääb hästi mõnusalt ergastatult õhkvele. Kauaks, intensiivselt. Väga hea jook. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Reviewed from notes (just when I had thought I had everything done for a while).
Thank you, Aimmee.
This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown to black color with a one finger white foamy head that quickly died off. Light somewhat speckled lacing roamed around the glass in a messy sort of way.
The smell had a somewhat roasty to sharp chocolate covered glazed fruity (somewhat dark, perhaps leaning towards some plum) tones.
The taste was sweet to roasty to light dark fruit.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an entrancing smooth to English malty sweetness rolling over my tongue. I would say this was pretty sessionable.
Overall, I say this was a good English stout that I would come back to if offered again. MayumiH (1214) - Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 19, 2014

Bottled 10/03/14. A black beer with a beige head which does diminish. A very tasty stout. Seems oaky. Lots of flavour. Nice sweetish roast. Boozy. Highly hopped. Decadent. Liked this. thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 7, 2014

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown/black with a bubbly tan head. Aroma had a light meatiness, soy, liquorice and a little dark fruit. Medium body, mild carbonation. Fairly sweet initial with a touch of milk chic, a little fruit and treacle, then a little soy, some dry woodiness and a good lingering, slightly coffee, bitterness. Nice.
