The Hackney Hopster is a debonair young chap of a pacific pale ale. Dressed in Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand, the Hopster shows off flavours of grapefruit, lemon zest and gooseberry. With a dry and fresh finish, you may find yourself wanting to hang out with this beer more often.

[email protected] Cloudy, deep golden color, lasting white head. Slightly sour aroma. Slightly skunky hop flavor. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Meh.

(Keg at Woolshed, 20170331) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was huge and white. Aroma had fruitiness, toffee and berries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, berries, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A weak pale ale.

Handpull cask from the Crown & Shuttle, Shoreditch. Golden, almost straw. A tiny bit of white head on top. Bit of grapefruit, pear, white wine and apple skin on the aroma. Taste is pretty thin unfortunately, mildly but noncomittally bitter and a trifle soapy. It’s fairly average and isn’t helped by the fact that it’s served on the warm side... not the beer’s fault but it doesn’t do it any favours.

Draught @ Woolshed, Helsinki. Slightly stingy and earthy pale ale with loads of berries, hints of hops and mild tartness. Feels a bit off.

50cl bottle at home. Golden/yellow with white head. Grapefruit almost white wine aroma - taste: quite yeasty - like Belgian blond. Enjoyable

Good English pale ale. Not great, but good for the style. Noticeably the body is better than usual. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, Wine Tavern, Leicester. Hazy golden with a white head. Bready with sweet tropical fruit and citrus rind. Yeasty with clean grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Decent.

gegwilson (3752) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2016
Keg in the Jam Factory, Oxford. Pours amber with a frothy off white head. Not a lot of aroma. The taste is light spice with pie bitterness. Not quite hoppy enough, but still decent.

ThirstyBird (2967) - Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2015
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2015 On tap at the brewpub, pours a near clear light honey color and a dense cream head. The smell is malty and tropical fruity. The taste is spice, tropical fruit ending with citrus and dryness. Light in body with active, tight carbonation.
