UPDATED: JAN 24, 2015 Couple of pints on tap. Opaque ebony with a lasting ring of cream. Nose is semi-sweet chocolate and caramel. Tastes of husky charred grain, caramel, dry grass and old coffee with a touch of lactose. Light-medium body has a nice balance and a medium-high carbonation.

On draft. Black color with red tint. One finger beige head. Coffee bean aroma. Slight coffee taste that ends bitter. Very nice porter.

12 ounce bottle from Bruisin. Pours a dark brown color with a large frothy brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, nutty notes, mild tobacco and very faint fruits. The taste is nutty notes, sesame, roasted malts, chocolate, faint brown sugar and even fainter hops. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness, low carbonation. Overall pretty solid.

Taster on tap at Barley’s during RBWG 2014. Dark brown color. Leaves good, thicker lace. Nice earthy hop in the nose, good dark chocolate malty [fruit]. Awesome texture. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Medium-plus body. Moderate bigger bitter taste, little sweet. Very nice hoppy porter. Hint of nice light dark fruit to it, well balanced with the hops.

Draft at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours a coffee brown with a beige ring for a head. Roasted and toasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, and dust. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Finishes dry. Nice, simple porter.

Aroma is roast and chocolate malt with light coffee notes, prunes and figs with earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt dominant with medium hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
