Bottle. Aroma drops hints of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Pours reddish brown with a light tan head which fades to the rim with a little lace in the center. Taste starts to follow the aroma, but fades into something I can’t place—some kind of toasty bread or something. This beer smells and tastes like a full working bakery. Great all around.

(Drank straight from the can) Grant Seafood Festival 2016 ... I don’t know what this looks like. I don’t care. I can’t smell much out of this tiny opening, but I’m picking up just a hint of sweet chocolate crème or milk chocolate. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor offers semi-sweet cocoa and a moderate measure of toastiness. Drinks nutty, toasty and moderately sweet. Crisp, lightly roasty, bittersweet finale. Can courtesy of ygtbsm94! Can (BB May 5, 2017). Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, toasted nuts, grain), with notes of butter, sour grape candy, plastic, stale coffee grounds. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Phew, pretty doggone dirty aroma on this one. Even the malt odors aren’t all that great. Quite foul aftertaste too. Pretty hard to stomach more than a few grimace-inducing sips before dumping poor ol’ Josie down the drain.

A fantastic middle of the road brown ale. Packed with brown sugar and chocolate powder flavors.a hint of tartness in the finish. Earthy but not dry. Mild hops lay back behind the malt in the finish. UPDATED: DEC 12, 2016 Poured from can a nice deep amber with tan head with good retention. Aroma is total caramel malts with bit of chocolate. Sweet on nose. Taste is same. Bitters in finish a bit.
