Pleasant enough as a low alcohol session beer. Low OG for low alcohol also leads to pretty average mouth feel. Nutty notes as befits a brown, some malt, some hops, but really not especially interesting. There is a new stone ballast point collaboration that works much better as a session beer.

Draft with dinner at Main Street Cafe. A beauty in the glass with a nice tight half inch head that diminishes quick and vanishes for remainder. Nose is sweet malt. On tap. Pours a clear brown with a thick white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, sweet maple, hazelnut. Flavor of roasted malt, roasted nuts, chocolate with a hint of maple sweetness in the finish. Solid brown ale, the maple is (thankfully) fairly subdued.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy reddish brown with nice sparkle, minimal beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is tons of caramel/toffee with some dark fruit, light baker’s chocolate & coffee. Taste is toffee, roasted malts. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with average texture and carbonation, dry mix of mild sweet and bitter. Overall, I didn’t get any maple syrup, the aroma was really intriguing but the taste didn’t live up to it.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a thin lacy head. Earthy aromas of caramel malt, dark chocolate and earthy hops. Earthy flavors too--coffee, cola, hay, roasty malt, and subtle dark fruits. Finishes with earthy hops. Watery, thin, slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Just okay.
