COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real India Pale Ale (IPA), as it was first brewed in the days of the British Empire, was not the carefully filtered brew that we call IPA beer today. The first IPAs were unfiltered and featured extra hops and higher strength as a preservative for the long trip from England to the colony of India. Our Traditional IPA ale is naturally carbonated, dry-hopped & unfiltered like the old days.

Bottle. Hops, malt, spices, caramel/molasses?, earth, leaves. Medium body. Decent texture but it just doesn’t have enough flavor. It’s gone before I can figure out what it is. Plain.

blipp (9502) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Draft. Pours golden orange with a white head. Floral and grassy hops, moderate bitterness, and a nice spicy bitter hoppy finish. Pretty good.

BierMeHoos (644) - Maryland, USA - MAY 14, 2014
Bottle. Smells of bread citrus and light caramel. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet feel. Middle of the road pale ale.

Draft in Bar Harbor. Pours orange with a small white head. Nose is citrus. Taste is bitter but mild.

3.3
johnnnniee (4374) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 10, 2014
Bottle from the 12 pack Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a huge bubbly off white head that persists forever. Smells of bread citrus and light caramel with a hint of fruity esters. Flavor is quite malty for an IPA with huge bread and caramel notes offset with just enough earthy hops to keep it from being too sweet. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet somewhat chalky mouthfeel. Middle of the road, old school, English inspired pale ale.

I’d hoped that the previous ratings weren’t exactly true, but they were...this beer has a nice aroma, but is seriously lacking on the IPA bitterness we have come to love. The aftertaste while at first is pretty palatable, eventually becomes a bit skunky and then dry.

3.1
wheresyourball (572) - El Cajon, California, USA - MAY 7, 2014
Draft at the Phillies ballpark. Pours a clear golden color and has a mildly hoppy nose. Flavor is citrus, malt, hops; watery with an odd bitter finish.

3.4
wlajwl (6943) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 18, 2014
Aroma is citrus, earthy malts and a hint of spices. The flavor is citrus/possibly Challenger hops, earthy malts, very mild hop resin notes and a dry/slightly tart finish. Not bad, but better labeled as an ESB.

3.3
Pizz5116 (61) - Bayville, New Jersey, USA - APR 10, 2014
Pours golden clear minimal head. Slight hoppy aroma with pine resin. Taste is minimal hops with slight citrus

budznsudz (582) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Draft at the experience hendrix concert. Aroma of light citrus hops and not much else. Taste of light citrus, pine, pretty bland, light body. Meh
