COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real India Pale Ale (IPA), as it was first brewed in the days of the British Empire, was not the carefully filtered brew that we call IPA beer today. The first IPAs were unfiltered and featured extra hops and higher strength as a preservative for the long trip from England to the colony of India. Our Traditional IPA ale is naturally carbonated, dry-hopped & unfiltered like the old days.

Ungstrup (38413) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 14, 2004
An orange beer with a small white disappearing head. The aroma is sour and slightly hoppy. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and a sticky mouthfeel. This reminds me of a pilsener, not at all of an IPA.

Travlr (26091) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 20, 2012
Bottle. Murky yellow gold color, large fluffy white head with fair retention and solid lacing. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Taste is bitter lemon soda. Not bad.

Leighton (22307) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 18, 2009
Afine example of the IPA tradition. Amber color pour with a medium head. Hop scent and flavor with a crisp finish. A solid brew.

Oakes (18850) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 13, 2017
Amber, haze, thin head. On the palate it's got a fair bit of sweetness, but also that sort of old school piney C hop with a hit of brighter fruits towards the end. Well-made if unexciting.

MiP (15973) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - SEP 11, 2010
Bottle. Mild grassy hop aroma. Hazy golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is quite citric, grapefruit and lemon. Not so pleasant citrus notes, a bit rough.

bhensonb (15758) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Bottle. Source not noted! Pours hazy golden amber with a slight white head. Aromas of light stone fruit and citrus hop. Med body or better. Flavor is lightly malty and quite fruity/citrus hoppy. Finishes nicely bitter. Not NW, but bitter. Pretty good brew. Probably in the top 33% of IPAs.

Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting creamy off white head. Aromas of bread, earthiness and light grapefruit zest. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness and a hint of yeast with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish.

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 23, 2002
Light orange body with big white head. Smell is earthy hoppy, slightly sweet. Flavor is sharp earthy hoppy, with strong bitter aftertaste. Nothing to balance it -- nothing floral, limited sweetness and no maltiness.

2.7
BeerandBlues2 (13814) - Escondido, California, USA - JUN 26, 2011
Sampled at 4th NoVA Summer Brewfest. Pours hazy gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spotty lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (straw, cereal), heavy hops (citrus, floral, earthy), and moderate corn notes. Flavor is malt with heavy hop and bitterness. Light body and warmth, medium carbonation with a dry finish.
