Real India Pale Ale (IPA), as it was first brewed in the days of the British Empire, was not the carefully filtered brew that we call IPA beer today. The first IPAs were unfiltered and featured extra hops and higher strength as a preservative for the long trip from England to the colony of India. Our Traditional IPA ale is naturally carbonated, dry-hopped & unfiltered like the old days.

Several pints at the hotel. Clear amber gold pour with thick white head. Aroma is hoppy, nice and piney, light caramel, toasted malt notes, nice and clean. Taste is bitter but not too bitter, malty but not too malty, definitely an old school IPA but I found it surprisingly drinkable and not cloying. Nice full body with med carbonation. Good.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Slightly cloudy amber brea with tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of resin and grapefruit, some tropical notes. Taste is lightly sweet upfront with a very nice resin and citrus hops finish. A solid IPA.

This is wonderful interpretation of a traditional English IPA. A nice firm hop aroma and strong finish without a heavy lingering aftertaste.

Unfiltered,English IPA with the typical hop aromas you'd expect from this style ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ratman197 (15113) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting creamy off white head. Aromas of bread, earthiness and light grapefruit zest. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness and a hint of yeast with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish.

mrol (340) - - JUL 3, 2015
Lite amber with small, quickly disappearing white head. Slight spicy aroma. Taste starts caramel then, quickly rising bitterness. The aftertaste is lingering.

ScipioA (405) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 24, 2015
Looks like the classic IPA: hazed copper body with a large tan head that lasts. Aroma is faint fruits (apricot mostly) and general beer along with some flowers. The flavor is sickly sweet caramel with some faint lingering bitterness. Nice thick body with frothy carbonation. Subpar IPA.

Quick3Beers (1322) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 12, 2015
Very refreshing unfiltered IPA, pouring a hazy amber from a bottle. Fruity hop-forward flavor, some malty sweetness, and a very pleasant bitterness. Very good beer.
