12 ounce bottle. Opaque black pour. Small creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose. Notes of licorice and dark dried fruit. First sip is bittersweet dark chocolate. Hints of molasses, licorice and charred wood. Rich and complex with resiny hops in finish. Very well done. 7.9 ABV is well hidden. Holdwine (1239) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 26, 2017
One of my favorite pours in quite some time. Layer upon layer of dark flavors. Dark fruit, charred malt, a touch of bitterness to balance out the amazing roasted caramel notes. Quite good. superspak (6108) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - APR 19, 2017
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 1/7/2016. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, dark fruits, smoke, charcoal, leather, herbal, floral, light pepper, and roast/toast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, dark fruits, smoke, charcoal, leather, herbal, floral, light pepper, and roast/toast/smokey earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, floral, light pepper, and roast/toast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; zero cloying, acrid, or astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly silky/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.9%. Overall this is a fantastic American stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Very rich and complex on malt flavors; with complimenting fruity yeast and earthy hops in the background. A spot on style example, and highly enjoyable offering. mike5326 (1786) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - MAR 27, 2017

nice light Bourbon scent.
FLAVOR- deep stout flavor with lots of other flavors. Delish.
This bottled brew from a grocery store was served at a cool temperature and poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind no visible carbonation opaque black brown colored body and a good lacing. The nice aroma was black malt brown malt and dark malt. with a strong roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of brown sugar roasted malt and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again. Braudog (6854) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - DEC 28, 2016
Bottle. Big, big pour ... viscous, as black as black can be, spooky head of tan, roiling foam. The aroma has a definite chocolate tilt. And it drinks with the expected gigantic portion of dark, bitter chocolate, with just a hint of coffee bitterness. Pretty darn good.
