Draft at the brewpub. Roasted malt, a little coffee. Mid dry. Soft carbonation. Solid. Larry_Duffman (618) - - SEP 25, 2016
I had it on tap at a Beer Fest. It pours black with a small, off-white head. The aroma was a little underwhelming. It was roasty. The taste was roasty coffee and tobacco. It was pretty smooth. TheHopster (1111) - Netcong, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2016
On draft at the brew pub with Susan and Greg on Christmas weekend. My favorite of samples tasted at this brewery. Very dark complexion with some head retention. Rich flavor of roasted malt with some prune. Balanced. Nice winter choice. anthony850 (473) - Andover, New Jersey, USA - MAR 8, 2014

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt with prunes and earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt dominant, dark fruits, light hops and medium bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft, pours blackish brown with small off white head, nice lacing. Notes of chocolate, roasted nuts, dark malts, plum, and wood. Wouldn’t say its full bodied but more light to medium for the style. Light carb. Easy to drink porter and the best I tried at Long Valley. jtclockwork (17654) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Pours black with white head. Nose/taste of roasted and burnt chocolate malt, flaked oats and hints of burnt nuts. Medium body. BrewBoxer (2667) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Deep black. Malty. Sweet. Toasty. Decent porter. Could habve been a bit more complex. Best one I’ve had from them so far rugbydude05 (478) - Bridgewater, NJ, New Jersey, USA - MAR 3, 2012
Pint on tap at the brewpub in Long Valley. Dark brown color, minimal head, aroma is sweet, roasty, malty, and yeasty. Taste is strong sweet with some bitter, with good complexity. Great body, not watered down at all, somewhat creamy texture, with a sweet but crisp aftertaste. As mentioned in previous ratings, this is a great session beer and pairs up well with typical pub fare. RGDave (115) - Lebanon, New Jersey, USA - JAN 27, 2011
Pours a smooth dark, dark brown color with a khaki-colored head. Not too much head retention, just enough, and the full roasted nuttiness of the aroma is prevalent. Attack is crisp and toasty, but the full maltiness quickly is apparant, creamy body and a perfect hint of coffee on the back end. Wonderful porter, my favorite of this style to date! Get a growler to go :-)
