This Belgium influenced ale is created by re-fermenting loads of whole raspberries with a lightly hopped Blonde ale. The resulting beer has a refreshing raspberry flavour with a slightly tart finish.

Pours a brownish red with a bit of fine white head and some active carbonation. Smell is a bit of caramel malt and a whole lot of raspberry. Palate is light bodied with fairly aggressive carbonation. Taste is not great and kind of weird. The flavour starts out a bit sweet which nearly instantly goes away and gets tart with a bit of a metallic tinge at the edges. There’s no real sweet raspberry flavour which is kind of dissapointing.

65cl bottle bought in Nanaimo, where it is brewed. Pours rosy brown with a light brown and thin head. Ice cold is watery and low on flavour and feel, as it warms to room temperature more of the berry notes come out, slightly raspberry like with notes of earl grey tea, at room temp it is very berry like and smells divine, a room temp summer session beer, drink closer to warm rather than cold to get the full fruity effect of this brew

Bottle. Red. Bubbly head. Nice raspberry scent. Dry tart raspberry taste. You can taste the seeds!

Bottle (mine says 5.0%). Pours a bright red-orange with a frothy white head. Fresh juicy raspberry aroma with some bready malt. Tangy raspberry fruit palate, on the edge of being sour, slightly stemmy. This is real fruit all the way, and for that it gets top marks from me!

Pours a bright pink with a great thick head with decent retention. Promising aroma - very fresh raspberries! Taste disappoints - watery and thin, lightly tart. No complexity or malt character. Good carbonation, thin watery body. Drinkable, but what’s the point?

on tap-pours a light pink head and red/orange color. Aroma is raspberry. Taste is raspberry spritzer. OK effervescence.

CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 16, 2006
(Draught) Strong raspberry nose. Very seedy flavour and lightly tart and somewhat woody. Pinkish head settles to the tim atop a copper body. Good.

Oakes (18199) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 7, 2006
Reddish-brown colour. Big fresh raspberry syrup nose with subtle malts. The berries are real, though, and this is very evident on the palate. Fresh, fruity, lively with light bready malt notes. Well-balanced and the freshness of the fruit flavour speaks for itself. Surprisingly good.

Malakin (470) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 26, 2004
Cloudy dark pinky orange with a smokey raspberry aroma. Smokey raspberry flavours, bit tart and a somewhat on the rough side. Their IPA was also smokey that day, weird...
