Fiery golden orange in color, sweet malt fills the mouth redolent of honey, pear and fresh apricot. The finish is so smooth and well rounded, its strength is deceiving.

Cannile's rating

   AROMA 2/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 2/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 3/20
Cannile (12) - California, USA - MAR 28, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2012 Had this at the Sacramento Brewer’s Showcase late last month. Tasted fairly acidic, one-dimensional, not very palatable. Hazy, sweet, just overall bland. I’ll pass from here on out. Reminded me of an Eye of the Hawk knock-off of some sort. Perhaps that is what they were going for, hence the name and all. Fail.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland. Bottled 7/26/14. Aroma is mostly honey and graham cracker. Moderate sweetness. Not much else happening in the nose. No hops detected. Transparent golden body with a medium, fairly quickly dissipating white head present. So this starts out with a bit of a husky, tannin like flavoring. Lots of grainy, cereal, and light toastiness in the middle. Finishes with a little ethanol and a mild bitterness that is due in part to the ethanol. This is an absolute malt bomb that’s totally once dimensional and quite bland.

A light, refreshing beer, but lacking complexity, body, and flavor. It drinks like a good light beer, and is great for an afternoon refresher. Mild hop flavor, clean palate, short finish.

Off the tap at the brewery. One finger of head on a cloudy straw colored body. The aroma was all grain and lemon, which was nice. The taste was balanced and rounded mixture of lemon and a healthy dose of malt. The texture was softer with moderate carbonation. A BIG and drinkable ale.

This is a pretty GREAT beer from a local small brewery. One of the usual kegs we get for parties. Very smooth for how strong it is.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2013 On tap at Beach Hut Deli in West Sacramento. Not much aroma maybe some light fruit, flavor is light and almost lagerish. Very light fruityness. Poured a golden Amber color. Thin but prevalent head. Palate is kind of light and fizzy. Rerate- had this again, much fruitier this time, kinda like passion fruit very good! I think I was a bit hung over last time ;)

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Pine and earthy aroma. Earth and pine flavor with light citrus. Medium bodied. Pine and earth linger with light citrus and light dust.

marcus (10565) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 28, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours light amber with a modeset off-white head and a floral aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a carbonated hoppy finish. Lots of ingredient, lots of flavor.
