Pours a dark brown with some red highlights and a floppy off-white head. Picked up some chocolate and maybe a little dark fruit on the nose. Dark malt dominates the taste, with a hint of chocolate and some raisin. Finishes reasonably cleanly, with a bit of lingering sweetness. Not great, but not too bad. Great appearance of choluria with haemolisis and a nice off-white head. Aromas of banana cakes, with peach, cinammon and biscuits. I must confess that I got little of the flavour, with the cold temperature it was served. Mainly a malty, toffeeish taste, quite pleasant. A heavy dark beer with not much character. Very high alcohol content.

A-- Poured a dark redish brown with a light tan head, good one finger head. Leaving sticky lacing. Also left a good amount of sediment in my glass. Medium carbonation.
S-- Yeasty, carmel, touch of booziness, dark fruits and a little bit of sour smell to it.
T-- Lots of yeast and malt in this, a little bit of carmel and a sour off taste. Does have a bit of a alcohol taste in it. Dark fruits a small bit. Needs more of the fruit to come out and be bigger.
M-- Medium carbonated. Not a lot of character and some of the flavors are flat. Like the fruit. More dominated by the sweet and sour flavors of the yeast and malt. Feel like I should have drank bread in a way
D-- One 6 pack is enough. Not again. Reminds me of a homebrew with a lot of sugar. Once the beer sits in you for a while a really sweet taste begins and it is like being a kid who has had too much candy on halloween. At just on cool, a bottled sample. Opaque, muddy looking, dull chestnut in body. The head went up and straight back down resulting in little more than some loose suds on the meniscus. Woody, cocoa powder and slightly ashen, smoky nose; sweet toffee and dessert-style fudge pudding round it off nicely. A little fizzy on the tongue; needed a good few swirls to soften. Quite woody and phenolic like the Three Sheets (House yeast?). Nutty praline front melds with dusty cocoa, timber and heavily roasted nuts all the way down the palate. Husky malt astringency on the swallow, slightly tannic with touches of blood and rust. Quite meaty and chunky, the carbonation light with the alcohol all under wraps. Long linger of bent-up malt and yeast by-products, actually work well for this. Enough complexity comes through for a little afternoon contemplation. A new sample would be great to compare as I think over the years it has a little of its rough edge! (33cL, no date stamp, The Beer Store Morley)
On tap at the Lord Nelson. Pours dark amber with an off white cap and low carbonation. The beer is served too cold to get a decent impression of the aroma but stong dark malts are there along with some alcohol and ester. Pint at Lord Nelson’s Hotel in Sydney. Pours a dark copper with an offwhite creamy head. Smells of tons of malt. Tastes of a medium sweetness, medium-large bitterness, and some metallic qualities. 330ml bottle. Copper-brown pour with a small off white head. Malty toasty aromas with dark chocolate and nutty notes. Taste is straightforward sweet caramel malts with a mild floral hop finish. Medium bodied with a spritely mouthfeel and the ABV well hidden. Goes down easily.
