From the Lord Nelson taps. Pours black. Great aroma of coffee, burnt toast. Bit of dried fruit. Wonderful on palate. Sense of rum on the tongue. Pleasant finish without bitterness. Not quite a stout but quality beer.

I had the bottled "Lord Nelson Dark Ale". Dark brown body, off white head. A sweet malty molasses, with a hint of roast. Okay. danjs5 (241) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 13, 2017
Deep Red brown and clear. Thin head and delicous big caramel toffee molases rum spiced fruitcake aroma. Spiced fruit caramel toasted malt flavours. This is a great sweet flavoursome dark ale. Camons (12450) - Hasselager, DENMARK - MAR 11, 2017
Draught @ Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel, Sydney, Australia. Pours slightly hazy dark golden with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, light sourness, butter. Flavor is light sweet, sourness/sour milk, butter, nutty notes. Medium body, average carbonation. Wonders how this can be served? 110317 KeefOz (1838) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - FEB 19, 2017
Poured a dark brown with a 5mm tan dense foam head the diminished quickly to a blotchy cap that laced poorly. Carbonation moderate, average and coarse. Aroma moderately strong of sweet caramel malt with hints of roasted grains; quite sweet. Taste initially with roasted notes followed by sweet caramel malt and sweet dark chocolate; quite rich, low bitterness. Medium body. Smooth and slightly creamy with a moderate length sweetness plus toasted notes on the finish. Dandm (125) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 23, 2016
Nice clear dark red with average carbonation. Not a strong smell but could be interrupted by the Thai kitchen I’m at. Big malt. Medium bitterness. Roasty. Goes well with Pad Thai.

On tap at The Lord Nelson Brewery. Looks the part and tastes it too, one of my favourite styles so no surprise I loved it. mcberko (17847) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 5, 2016
On tap at Lord Nelson, pours a hazy dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, bready caramel malt, and toffee. Flavour is quite malty, with notes of toffee, bready malt and bready caramel. Light-bodied despite beige malty-heavy. Solid. JoshRaburn (118) - - OCT 25, 2015
The first impression is of lots of chocolate malt. Wee bit too sweet. This one is quite similar to Old Peculiar, but lacks some complexity. DavidAust (275) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 18, 2015
Dark nutty brown with tan head and good lacing. Beer was served a little too cold, so light aroma with caramel and chocolate scents. Flavours also muted due to temperature. Still managed chocolate and coffee, with a long and bitter finish. Felt it was highly carbonated which may have been influenced by the coldness - but either way it reduced the flavour.
