Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Black beer with a nice brown head. Pitch black beer with a brown head. Oak aroma, vanilla, milky, hoppy bitter, mint, cocoa, chocolate. Vanilla and oak flavor, vinous, licorice, hop notes, tar, figs, raisins, chocolate. Lovely balance and a great finish. Top class. Huhzubendah (3705) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 9, 2012
Lost Abbey track beer tasting.
The beer appears black with a thin beige cap. The aroma...wow! Coffee and roast - so fresh and wonderful. An instant 5 in the aroma category. Bourbon and oak come in after the delectable coffee, giving balance and complexity. The flavor does not disappoint. A remarkable beer. Bourbon is perhaps a bit overshadowed by coffee, but as a daily coffee drinker, I can’t complain. Medium bodied with masterfully disguised alcohol content. Shockingly good. Just outstanding. My highest recommendation. Imperial_Scout (363) - Illinois, USA - DEC 11, 2013

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2015 This big oily black beer is definitely a sipper, but damn is it a good one. Loads of cocoa and coffee explode from the glass. Nose is fantastic. The bourbons character and the base beers are quite complex. I love serpent stout and older viscosity (the two bases) so no surprise there. Boozy on the palate, very warming going down. Only the lack of drink ability beyond 8-12 oz prevents an even higher score. Fantastic.
Not consistent as subsequent bottle(s) were not quite as awesome. Shows a lot more heat. Still really nice. ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - APR 21, 2015
