Late in November of 2011, Mike Rodriguez our head brewer asked about creating a Coffee and Cacoa Nib version of Serpents Stout for the San Diego Strong Ale Festival. The beer was a hit with our fans. When we wrote up the syllabus for the Ultimate Box Set, we knew a version of this beer would be included. We waited until the very end of the release schedule to put this beer in a bottle so that the coffee and cacoa nibs really come through. Four Bourbon barrels were selected for their rich and dense chocolate flavors. One week before packaging, we added 17 lbs of Ryan Brothers Coffee and 4 lbs of TCHO Cacao Nibs were added to the coffee and cacao to steep before packaging.

375 ml bottle (thx, Nick M.!) in honor of our 3rd year in Canada. Vintage 2016. Pours a very dark brown with a strong dark beige head. Aroma is bourbon, bourbon barrel, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits. Taste is coffee, chocolate, bourbon. Just slightly hot, alcohol is good hidden. Surprisingly not overwhelming coffee in here, moderate sweetness. Very nice!

Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with small, light brown head. Moderate malty atoma - partly roasted chocolate, malty, cocoa, coffee. Taste is moderately to light heavy sweet with moderate, balanced bitterness. Medium body, watery to oily texture, average to lively carbonation, finish is mild, cocoa, chocolate. In overall yet another beer from Lost Abbey, which is pretty too lively as for a stout. But nice combination and balance between ingredients. Nice not too boozy bourbon notes. ABV is enough hidden. Piana średnia, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa prawie czarna, nieprzejrzysta. W aromacie piękne nuty wanilii, prażonych wirkw kokosowych, marcepanu, pralin, trufli, kakao, kawy, melasy, rodzynek, porto... Piękny, intensywny i złożony zapach. Niskie wysycenie i przyjemne alkoholowe rozgrzewanie.
Bardzo udany, złożony i wybitnie deserowy RIS, z fajnie zaznaczoną beczką po bourbonie a przede wszystkim solidnym ciałem.
