3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a black shade with thin head, and light lacing. Aromas of cookie dough, fudge, currants, light vinegar, light peat wood, roasted almond, and light vinegar. Taste is most of the same. Finishes dry and slightly boozey. So rich and flavorful, wish I could have aged this beer or made sure it was super warm.
375 mL bottle. Originally reviewed sometime in 2013.
Very dark, nearly black. Biggest head of the Box Set so far. Looks genuinely nice.
Smells like a schwartzbier. Slight bretty aroma with lots of chocolate.
Brett character is strongest flavor. Chocolate comes through behind it, mostly bitter dark chocolate. Lots of brett acidity coming through. Kinda bland.
uckets of brett. Dry and medium light bodied. No head. Overly carbonated.
The least exciting so far. Boring beer with some brett. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - NOV 30, 2016
From notes. Enjoyed this at Mickey’s 30th birthday bash on November 05. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a darker brown with a small light brown head that falls to a ring very quickly. The aroma is not good. There is a ton of alcohol and wood on the nose. There is a malt and a decent woodiness to it, but damn. The alcohol burns the nose. The flavor is much of the same. Really heavy barrel and a strong alcohol to it. There is a hint of vanilla, but it’s just a hot boozy mess. There is a light vinegar on the back end. The mouth feel is thin and slick with a messy carbonation and a lingeringly hot and alcohol sweet barrel that doesn’t do anything for me. No thanks. hackobock (4045) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 15, 2016

Dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is sour and malty with toffee, bourbon, vinegar, leather, grapes and lemon.
Taste is sour, light to medium sweet, malty.
Finish is slight roasted, hints of dark chocolate, hints of sweet toffee, vanilla, bourbon, light sour cherries, vinegar, oak and grapes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
Bottle bought through Drikkeriget. Pours murky blackish brown with a very small pale mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty, slightly fruity and heavy woody with roasted malts, dark bread, vanilla, lemon juice, grapes, hay, dry soil, leather, vinegar and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, very tiny sour, slightly bitter, malty and woody. Mouthfeel is round, astringent, tiny dry, boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet, very tiny sour and bitter with roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, charred wood, grapes, ash and alcohol. Weird one. Sour stout that’s not really sour. Heavy boozy though and very rough around the edges even at this age. rlgk (18850) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 15, 2016

(Backlog)Bottle pour at Beer tasting. I brought this back from San Diego last year, Dark redish tint pour, tast is a little sweet fruit lite sour taste, has definitely shown some age, however still awesome to try. deyholla (11759) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 1, 2016
