American hopped saison.

Editor’s note: The 2009+ versions are spiked with Brett at bottling. Bottles from 2009 are marked as such, although 2010 and 2011 bottles appear to not note the vintage on the label, but might be printed on the neck or base.

KajII's rating

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 15/20

Bottle. The pour was a hazy yellow with a huge (3-4 finger) white pillowy head that lasted a little while, receding to a large puddle and collar of residue, which had good spotty lacing. The aroma was of light grain and cereal malts, herbal hops and a funky Brett yeast with notes of citrus (orange and lemon), and a hint of spice (coriander and clove). The taste was a little sweet and a tad sour with a hint of citrus at first and then became rather hoppy with a slight bitter lemon peel presence and a mild peppery spice ending. The flavor lasted an average time proceeding the swallow, with a hoppy slightly sour peppery taste left to settle on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was just beyond light in body with a smooth dry texture and a prickly carbonation. Overall a refreshingly different Saison, with a nice sour spicy taste that had an outstanding blending with the hops...

Vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-11 getrunken. Süffiges und etwas langweiliges Saison, aber gut gemacht wie alle Lost Abbey Biere die ich im Glas hatte.

Pours a hazy amber from a bottle, thick white head with some lacing. Fruity aroma, like baked apples or some roasted pears or something. Slightly spicy flavor with a bit of funk. Nicely balanced. Pretty good beer.

EvanFriend (592) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 17, 2017
Very spicy, very fruity. Banana, clove, pepper, maybe some ginger, a bit of citrus, and a sort of earthy flavor as well. I like this one.

chadski (140) - California, USA - APR 8, 2017
Really, really good. Frothy pour with a bit of an earthy aroma. Crisp and peppery flavors with a very subtle sweetness to round out the finish.

Bottle pours hazy golden, lacy foamy head. Sour green Apple on the nose, bitter tart flavor, not much malt to counterbalance. Great if you like sour ales, will buy a few to store until early September.

Alphadelic (2237) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 27, 2017
On tap - gorgeous crest of dense white froth on it. The nose is candied fruit, candies to a cotton candy degree. I pick up the us hops in there with the mango. Very soft and smooth. I like it but overall it’s perhaps a little too sweet.

Pours an amber body with a medium head. Hoppy aroma with a funky finish. Taste is a malty funk with a well balanced addition of hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
