crackedmachine (481) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 16, 2012
Pint on tap. Opaque black with a medium but brief tan head. Aroma of dried pit fruit and bourbon. Flavor is heavy on the bourbon barrel, brandy and prune and rasin, some booze heat (but that is expected at this strength) and more subtle flavors of roasted malt and molasses. Initially quite overwhelming, but improves as it warms, making a very enjoyable, flavorful, and balanced strong ale.

Nitrogenx (1) - Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2012 does not count
Aroma: chocolate, caramel, alcohol, bourbon Appearance: brown w/ red edges, minimal tan head Taste: heavy cloying sweetness, some bourbon, chocolate, caramel, but mostly solvent Palate: medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, astringent Overall: Too boozy, even for 12.5%. Solvent taste prevalent. Better as it warms, but still cannot recommend. May improve with time.

Shared at 375ml bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy brown color, with an off-white head. Aroma was brandy barrel, with notes of dark, dried fruits (raisin, plum). Alcohol is present, so good thing I only had a little bit. A bit boozy.

_angst_ (4810) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 9, 2012
Bottle bought through Brill & Co. Pours pitch black with a small mocha head that quickly dissipates while leaving some lacing on the glass. Smell is rich, sweet and very tiny sour with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, bourbon, wood, alcohol, chocolate and hints of freshly cut grass. Taste is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, liquorice fudge, vanilla, wood, bourbon, chocolate, alcohol, dark honey, coffee and hints of orange zest and pine. Mouthfeel is intense, smooth, slightly boozy, velvety and full bodied. Finish is sweet with roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, wood and bourbon. Incredible beer!

sebletitje (10282) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2012
bottle courtesy of and shared with _angst_ Brune/cuivrée, col léger moka, huileux sur le verre.

JorisPPattyn (10062) - BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2012
Draught Shortlived, small head; intense red-brown, near black beer. Punch-in-the-face liqueurish spirit nose with Bourbon, whisky, brandy. Further raisins, raisins on alcohol and mandarines. Sweet, alcoholic, tad lactic like double cream, vanilla, maltbitter (chocolate). Fiery in the finish, thick and ultimately viscous. Hot alcoholthroatburn. This is... brutal. And totally good.
