Its an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. Its always been a simple life the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldnt sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we werent sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Appearance is a cloudy orange brown with big foamy head and medium lacing. aroma is bready, sweet, and a little citrus. Taste is sweet, medium body, slightly bitter finish. Overall, I enjoyed this one. Nothing amazing about it, but a solid beer. The lost abbey continues to impress me.

Medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, fruit, bread, hops and spices.

Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with medium yeast and with a medium off-white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast and fruit; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with bread, hops and spices.

This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. No idea how old the bottle is, but the most dominant flavour is definitely bread. Quite a decent Belgian Ale, but I expected something better after already having drunk that Saints edition.

6.2%ABV. Belgian ale. Poured out gold. 8SRM. Nose has some orange juicy sweetness, but with mild and very brief basement aromas of old wood, dust, cement and with a hint of phenol. Nose again has some nice citrus-like aroma. Mouthfeel is light soapy. Palate is smoother than the Inferno with a much less aggressive bitter on the front reserving all the bitter for the finish. Finish is solid bitter, clean with a slightly herbaceous character. Overall, this is like a Belgian ale with hops. For me, like a slightly hoppy delirium tremens.
