COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Its an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. Its always been a simple life the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in a solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we wouldnt sustain. Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspires them. Since we werent sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Bottled 07JUN12 Reviewed 12JUL13 Pours a nice golden with a soild quilt of creamy, tortuous head. Smells of grain, yeast, a little clove and vine, simple nose. Flavor is grain, metal, some botanicals, a little yeast, a little something I cant put my finger on but I like. Medium bodied with soft carb and a wet finish. I like. I would like more in a 12oz bottle for $2 each ish.

It pours a deep golden color with orange tinges. It has moderate head retention with moderate Belgian lace. It has aromas of earth and spice. There is a bit of toast with herbal and orange. It has an initial impression of spice. There are also earthen and biscuit flavors. There are backgrounds notes of orange. Floral and herbal elements round out the flavors. It has a moderate body with moderate carbonation and a certain dry crispness to it. The finish features most of the spice elements and dryness. Overall, this is a very enjoyable complex combination of spices and fruit.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, fruit, bread, hops and spices.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with medium yeast and with a medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast and fruit; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with bread, hops and spices.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. No idea how old the bottle is, but the most dominant flavour is definitely bread. Quite a decent Belgian Ale, but I expected something better after already having drunk that Saints edition.
