Bottle shared thanks to Maakun at sjogro’s sticky floor tasting. Slight gush. Sweet malts, orange peel, grain, barley, spices, grapes, wood. Medium sweet, moderate bitter, hint of sour. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Bottle shared. Bit of a gusher, very lively beer! Almost clear darker golden with big fluffy off white head. Quite spicy up front with yeast, cloves, allspice, cardamom. There’s some marmalade and dried apricot, soft caramel and honey. It’s a bit syrupy sweet but not too much, with long lasting spicy bitterness. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Quite some spices here!

Torrefacto (1677) - Madrid, SPAIN - DEC 24, 2016
Dorado turbio y espuma blanca. Aromas frescos de manzana verde con balsámicos, pino, eucalipto o menta. En boca tiene un cuerpo medio con burbuja picante y sabor como en aroma con final de amargor seco largo.

MelvinKalksma (1579) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 4, 2016

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, honey, fruit, Grain, hops, citrus and spices.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with a medium/large off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, honey and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with grain, hops, citrus and spices.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Had the pleasure to have a 2.5 years old bottle. The appearance is amazing, with an everlasting thick head on top. This prevents the aroma of being super strong though. Great taste and palate too, extremely refreshing and so drinkable.

(En fût à O’Brien’s): Épices, cèdre, acidité moelleuse, minéraux et une charge des saveurs puissantes et alourdissante. Plus ça avance, plus les épices s’agitent. Le ’’American way’’ ne fonctionne pas partout.

Pours a clear-golden in color with a sudsy white head. Flavor has grape notes and that signature saison yeast spice character.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2017 Cloudy, dark golden pour with very thick, lasting beige foam. Musty barnyard nose with subtle combination of spices. Pours hazy golden with very thick foam. Touch of sweet malt on the tongue but overall tart and dry. The hops are grassy. The various spices make the taste complex and rewards extended sipping. Medium body, very active fizz, slightly slick with sweet cereal malt in the aftertaste. Comparatively strong alcohol finish. Pittsburgh Beerfest 2016. New Year’s Day 2017.
