Inspired by crisp white wines, Saison Blanc features New Zealand hops, golden raisins and white pepper for a decidedly bright, spicy, and robust low ABV beer. Finished with Brettanomyces at packaging, this beer will evolve for many more years to come.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Hazy, straw colour. Lasting, sticky, white head, that gets bigger as the beer goes down! Sweet malt. Lemon. Raisins. Fruity spiciness. Yeasty fustiness. Busty silliness. Or summat. Taste is dry and lightly tart. Some lactic affair on the palate. Finish is gently dry, with a little of the spiciness remaining. I could drink this all day.

Bottle at home. No head. Hazy dark yellow body. Mild citrus brett aroma. Fruity pepper flavor. Raisins? Well I could not taste any. There is however quite a good deal of acidity but the beer is not actually sour. Low carbonation. Long dry pepper finish.

375ml bottle in a Lost Abbey teku. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, very light Brett, floral and hints of fruity hops, some pale malts, and notes of light fruits. Flavor the same. Average texture. A good Belgian saison, but could be better.

Cloudy pale yellow with a thick, pillowy head. Delicate citrus notes and a mellow tartness. Some spices. Taste is a tad sour and fruity. Some citric acidity mixed with fruity yeast funk. Light body, dry with high levels of co2

375 ml corked and cage bottle. Opens with a thunderous pop. Pours a slightly hazed effervescent-looking bubbly golden with an immensely large head that grows in the glass rather than receding. Literally there’s a white snowcone on top of the beer that just grew. It doesn’t recede either. As it recedes finally (after about 5 minutes) it resembles an uncircumcised choad. Well they really nailed the faux wine part in the aroma, white grapes, pear, peppery spice, and that vinous champagne note. Slight bit of butter on top. Flavor is much milder, still winey, much more of the raisin flavor creeping in. Extremely effervescent and dry.

Location: 375 ml bottle from Sparrow, 4/5/14, Vintage 2013, Rating #3550

Aroma: The nose is Belgian yeast, spice/pepper, citrus, hay, grass, and some wheat notes
Appearance: Pours a murky gold-orange color with a large, foamy white head and heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is spice and yeasty, clean saison hay/grass funk, with an average bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a touch too much carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a nice, solid, well-made Saison. No complaints from me other than a little too much carbonation. At only 5.4% I could session this for sure.
