UPDATED: JAN 20, 2015 Corked and caged, 12.7 oz bottle VINTAGE 2013. Nose is malty, dusty, faintly sweet; a maple syrup-raisin thing going on there sans sweetness. Some creamy/vanilla character, too. Pours light golden with moderate carbonation and a large, tight/dense, Orvallish head. Taste is very dry, golden pils/pale malt with low bitterness, slightly oily and perfumed hops (think Strisselspalt), candi residue, black pepper and a touch of airiness (neither fit in well), very light sweaty tartness that near familiar regurgitation/vomit, and there’s some sagging bell pepper bile, but that’s about it for the funk. Zesty, lively citrus, medium-full body with no apparent alcohol. Not sure I like the mix, or the contribution of the raisins or yeast (would prefer the flavors contributed naturally by a saison yeast). b3shine (8802) - Indiana, USA - NOV 30, 2014
375 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a hazy golden orange with white head. Smells of honey, golden raisins, and a bit of spice with a mild Chardonnay-like presence. Bottle, 0.375l, shared with friends. Hazy pale golden color with thin creamy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of funky brett, barnyard, white wine and fruits. Taste starts with light sweet biscuity malt, follows refreshing yeasty, vinous and fruity with dry peppery mouthfeel and moderate bitter finish. UPDATED: NOV 23, 2014 Bottled from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Hoppy nose, lots of tropical fruit, white wine. Fruity flavor, pepper, yeasty, very dy. Saison appears to be a difficult style to make oustide of Belgium. This example appears to be quite "artificial", with flavors that do not really seem to be very balanced. This poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. Atoms was lemony, peppery and yeast. Flavor similar, dry and light white wine and medium spice. OK.

Aroma is rather fruity with some overripe stone fruit and red apples. Quite a bit of grape character with some white wine notes. Medium white pepper character. Light grain notes.
Pours a cloudy, pale, yellow hay with a small, thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it disappears. Light lacing and small legs.
Flavor is slightly sweet with some grape tannins and moderately strong white pepper notes. Some medium light raisin notes with some light stone fruit and red apple. Medium bitterness with a moderate mineral character. Light bready, graininess.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a decent saison but I don’t know that it is anything special. The white pepper seems a bit strong, especially in the flavor. I feel the water is a bit hard as well. popway (205) - California, USA - OCT 3, 2014
Fresh mown meadows. Slightly peppery nose. Really nice & inviting
hazy golden body with healthy frothy head. Swirly cloudy clumps linger on surface. Taste borders on white wine but more funk, slightly acidic aftertaste
lingers. Overall a very nice intersection of funk and ale.
Made with golden raisins. Haven’t had those in a while.

Bottle. Pours ever so slightly hazy yellow, with a small airy head. Aroma is spicy yeast with lots of fruits, as well as sweet malts with bread, kandi and notes of biscuits and earth. Light body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is peppery yeast and sweet malts with bread, kandi, raisins. Sweet peppery yeast in the finish.
