Bottle at Drake 10k tasting. Hazy to cloudy brown color, tan edge head. Aroma of dark fruit. Taste is rich boozy dates, sticky mouthfeel. Tasty. mcberko (17809) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2015
750mL bottle, pours a murky dark mahogany with a tiny head. Nose is complex, with dark fruits, slight oxidation and a little wood. Flavour is quite boozy, with caramel, wood, alcohol and varnish. Fairly perfumey on the finish, but very well balanced. Overrated due to rarity but very good. brokensail (16444) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 12, 2013
Predictably flat pour. Mahogany in color without much in the way of bubbles/head. Brown sugar, lots of cognac, vanilla, and graham cracker. Chocolate, dark fruit, oak, and some light alcohol. The flavor is incredibly rich. Toffee, caramel, and cognac. Big vanilla, lots of graham cracker, chocolate, and dark fruits. Thick and syrupy on the tongue. Bottle shared by stfuad at my 10K tasting. Thanks! Hazy dark purplish, head fades quickly. Aroma of heavy oxidation, toffee, whiskey. The taste is toffee, raisin, whiskey, chocolate. Medium bodied, mild booze, not bad for as old as st. fuad says it is. Dogbrick (13006) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 4, 2015
Sample at the Badge-Whore Bowl (OSU vs AL) tasting on 01/01/2015. The beer is a hazy dark brown color with a minimal off-white head that disappears quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, oak and cognac. The finish is oaky and slightly vinous with a cognac aftertaste. Pretty good all around. crossovert (12874) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2013
Deep borubon notes, rich malt flavors, yet not a ingle bubble of carbon dioxide. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 2, 2014
Bottle... This beer rocks!… Murky brown pour with no head. The nose is a fantastic intermingling of dried fruits, raisins, brown sugar, bourbon and a light molasses note. Full-bodied and downright chewy with almost zero carbonation. The flavor consists of boozy brandy, seared caramel, mocha and a light note of butterscotch. Roasty-sweet finish with a butterscotch aftertaste that lingers. Many thanks to richiesd for providing this world class brew! daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 28, 2013
Reddish brown pour, no head to speak of. Nearly flat. But in this beer it works and works very well. Tons of the barrel notes come through without being harsh, some nectarine/peach flavors, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla. This is really damn tasty.
