Bottled. Deep ambery colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some nice wooden and raisiny notes as well as vanilla and fruits. Some slight alcoholic sweetness too. Flavour is very much the same, and in a a perfect balance. As it got a bit warmer also licorice and some slight alcoholic burning notes came through. madmitch76 (26437) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2009

12 ounce bottle at American Craft in Boston. Not really a beer, this is a tawny port. Almost black. Completely flat, no lacing. Aroma of sweet cherries, port. Taste is vinuous, dates, prunes, cherries. Interesting, but difficult to make it through the entire bottle.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2007 Bottled, thanks cquiroga! Rating #10000 at OMH. Dark brown, creamy beige head. Lovely aroma of mature caramel, blackberries and vanilla. Fruity and vastly malty. Full bodied, yet so soft and gentle. Notes of coffee and almost balsamic oak character. Very complex and extremely well balanced. Finishes with surprisingly low bitterness. Perfection in near every aspect. The best barley wine ever! What a superb beer to chose for an important milestone!
