3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2008 bottle from WeeheavySD. Pours a murky plum color with no discernable head, as warned. Smells very similar to port, with prominant notes of raisin and vanilla. Cavernous in flavor. Tastes of plums, dates, powered cocoa, malt, wood chips, and brown sugar. Seems to leave a resin on the palate. Certainly sweeter than I’d ever exect from a 12.5% beer. Good, but there’s just something sullen and depressing about this beer that I can’t place.
tap. Amber with small head. Caramel, brown sugar, molasses. I'm not much of a liquor guy, so the brandy seems almost bourbon-ish, but whatever, it's there plenty and really melds well. Huge beer, but drinks pretty smoothly. This is a world-class beer. llkc (2669) - århus, DENMARK - OCT 5, 2017

Emeryville, Ca. - BevMo! - 375 ml bottle. Dark brown pour, decently thick mocha colored head, light lace. Aroma of oak, bourbon, cherry and molasses. Rich flavor, some chocolate, a hint of bourbon, some cherry fruitiness and molasses in the finish. Thick and sticky mouthfeel. Enjoyed with my son; rating #44 of my Northern California vacation. Smells great. light caramel toffeee butterscotch, brown sugar. lots of tobacco. flavor also has a lot of tobacco / cigar. very flat. zero carb, has a cane syrup, sarsaparilla, pepper, cognac and oranges. tasty. wish it was carbed. Butelka leżakowana ok 2 lat. W smaku silna karmelowa podstawa z wyraźnymi ciasteczkami, nutami dębiny i wanilii. Przepełnione ciemnymi owocami, rodzynkami, winogronami, oraz nutami winnymi. W tle delikatne ciasto czekoladowe. Goryczka niska. Alkohol wyraźnie wyczuwalny, co zaskakuje przy tak długim leżakowaniu. Na finiszu lekki grafit. Dobre, ale nieco poniżej oczekiwań. Dark brown, ruby-colored pour with minimal, short-lived beige head. Notes of bourbon, dark malts, vanilla, raisins, candy sugar. Taste is mildly tart and woody with a strong, earmng, bourbon-like finish. Flavours develop subtly the aromas in perfect harmony - slightly smoked bourbon oak barrel, vanilla, dark fruits, raisins, cloves and pepper. Sticky, thick texture. Full body, low carbonation. Amazing. Turtles (2899) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 8, 2017
375 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy mahogany, very small head that disappears immediately and completely. Great bourbon aroma, vanilla, oak, raisins, figs and toffee. Full-bodied, soft carbonated, silky and warm mouthfeel. Very pleasant bourbon taste through the sweet caramel malt. Vanilla, figs oak, dark chocolate and vermouth. Dry woody finish, which is also significantly warming with a great bourbon burn, now this I really like!
