Halloween 2016 - Bottle picked up at The Beer Boutique and shared at Matteo’s. As ’Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout’, 5.8%. Dark brown or black, slight red hue, hazy and opaque, foamy light brown head, dotted lacing. Aroma is earthy, red berry, under-ripe berries, some blackcurrant. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. 355ml bottle from Jumbo Costanera Center. Santiago, Nov. 2016. Pours a pitch black color with a big rocky beige head that diminishes slowly. Aroma is strong in dark malts with notes of licorice, high-cacao dark chocolate, prunes, dark rye bread, earth and roast. Beautiful. Taste is sweet but well balanced with roast burning the back of the palate. Some dark fruit and lactic flavors, oats are also noticeable. Quite full bodied, intense brew. The thing that messes with the enjoyment is a pretty fizzy carbonation. With less of that it would be clearly a 4. Nice Stout anyway. Maybe just me but this really wasn’t much as far as a stout goes. The aroma was okay but the pour was very thin and the taste was empty. I might try it again just to confirm...my rating and opinion doesn’t seem to be the average... mice (965) - FINLAND - NOV 4, 2016
0.33 l bottle from Saveur Bière. Dark beer with medium, but quickly disappearing head. Wonderful aroma has roasted malts, coffee, dark bread and caramel. Taste is a bit drier with hints of coffee and roasted malts. Some caramel and milk chocolate also. Bottle shared at the inaugural Matteo tasting, 31/10/2016. A ruby reddy brown coloured pour with a a mid tan head. Aroma is nutty malts, toffee, caramel, soft roast jammy fruits, faint diacetyl. Flavour is composed of brown sugars, toffee jammy fruits, little woody. Plate is semi sweet. Moderate carbonation. Toffee. Ok.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Danny boyo. Pours deep brown with a creamy, beige head. The nose holds some tangy dark malts, berries, mild cocoa, earth. Light sweet flavour with notes of milk chocolate, soft roast, mild of earth. Light to medium bodied with creamy carbonation. Nice balance in the finish, with some raisin, toasted brown bread. Nose is sweet malt, brown bread, light spice, grains, cocoa.
Taste comprises biscuit, toffee, spice, fruit loaf, cocoa rub, dates, brown sugar.
Medium bodied, fine carboantion, semi drying close.

No BB date. almost black color, small tan head. smells smoky, earthy, spices, caramel, light vanilla, hazelnut, light licorice. nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, light mouthfeel. tastes earthy, licorice, some vanilla, lightly nutty, spices. finishes rather dry and earthy bitter with notes of licorice, vanilla and some hazelnuts. quite good one, nice nutty notes, liked the smell a bit better than the taste, taste is almost a bit thin, could be because I had the bottle for a while though. overall quite good a bit too much vanilla for me though (especially once it warms up). Black color with foam ring. Roasty nose. A little watery and very easy to drink with the stout typical coffee filter residues. roasty finish.
