A full-flavored amber ale made with roasted caramel malt. Richly colored and medium-bodied, Alleycat is an assertive blend of malts with a sprightly cascade of hops.

This is one top notch and tasty brew. Dark copper color, a small skin of head, streaky lacing. Caramel, malt with a light hop accent. Mildly sweet with a hint of stinging bitterness. Really, really enjoyable.

4oz on tap at Ei8ht Ball a few weeks ago. Mostly hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head, leaving good thicker sheets of lace. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp, light carbonation. Kind of slick texture. Caramel, and toasty malt, light earthy hop. Good bit of piney hop (simcoe?). Moderate-plus sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. A solid, maltier amber ale, but not too sweet. Balanced.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Pint mug From: Albertsons in Alpine, Calif. Price: $1.67 ($9.99 for a mix 6-pack) Purchased: Jan. 2, 2015 Consumed: Jan. 3, 2015 Misc.: N/A Poured a caramel, orange, hazy color with two fingers of khaki-tan, frothy head. Pretty serene, albeit hazy underneath the head. Minimal wet lacing on the sides of the glass. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled a pleasant whiff of caramel, toffee, floral hops, unknown spicy notes, faint chocolate, sweetened iced team, lemon zest, herbal hops, plum juice and some overall roastiness. (Smell - 4.00) Tasted not quite as good as the nose, but good for an amber. Earthy rye hops, sweetened iced tea, roasty caramel, toffee, herbal hops, sugary floral notes, honey, light menthol and faint spicy Mexican chocolate. (Taste - 3.88) Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.63) This is a very good representative of an American Amber. Would have it again for sure. (Overall - 3.75) 3.83 86 B+

355 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Looks: Clear deep amber colour with no yeast sediments; Razor-thin head and off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet amber malt, with very strong caramel, moderate roastyness, strong plums, dark fruits, toffee, strong molasses, grapefruit, pine, spices, yeast, lemon and light grass.

Taste: Medium sweet rich Ale malt, with quite strong roastyness, strong caramel, sticky toffee, strong molasses notes, light grapefruit, light pine, strong earth, yeast, light biscuits, lemon, moderate bitter hops and strong grass.

Body: Mid to full body. Slick and thick palate.

Mouth Feel: Wholesome roasted amber malt makes the call here, quite rich but without being oily. Very strong caramel and quite sticky toffee throughout, not so sweet molasses blended well with right amount of piney earthy hops. What a joy!

Hoppiness: Moderate pine, spice, lemon and grass in nose. Light grapefruit, light pine, strong earth, lemon and strong grass in taste. Bitterness is apparent but moderate for a lasting, mid-astringent grassy finish.

After Taste: Quite dry; Malty piney and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: A nicely-made Amber with just about everything in the right place - full maltyness, good roast, rich caramel and toffee characters, and moderate but yummy citrus and earthy hoppiness. So enjoyable to spend a Friday evening. A resounding Yes!

Clear honey-orange with a very creamy off-white head. Lots of foamy legs. Smells of strong honey caramel malt, some light tangerine and nut and grassiness. Taste is quite thin: medium bitterness and a bit of spiced malt. Body is medium-to-thick, oily, gentle carbonation. Taste dissipates quickly. Not very exciting but drinkable and inoffensive.

Nice strong spicy, hoppy aroma. Smoky, ginger, spice and a nice smooth mouthfeel with a solid bite. Good quality beverage.

355ml bottle. Dark clear amber pour with a beautiful shiny head. Smell is caramel and citrus, some herbs. Flavor is malty, lots of caramel, bread, some herb marmalade typ hop flavor. Ultimately it is easy to dirnk and good beer but a boring one.

Borostyán színben tündöklő ital egy nagy adag karamellás, mézes és fűszeres beütéssel, friss, fenyős-komlós illatokkal. Íze kiegyensúlyozott, füves árnyalatú, kellőképpen édes, de leginkább mérsékelten száraz. Közepes szénsavtartalma mögül fanyar gyümölcsök, eperlekvár, kelttésztás jegyek bontakoznak ki. Jól összerakott, apró kortyokban is sokat nyújtó, de vehemensebb, ivótempóban is remekül élvezhető alkotás.

Nice color, and a good choice of a variety of hops. Taste was solid as well.
